FRANKLIN, Tenn. â€" University of Houston senior Megan Thothong and junior Leonie Harm each posted even-par 72s during the Mason Rudolph Championship Second Round to lead the Cougars.
Starting on No. 1, Thothong overcame bogeys on No. 1 and No. 6 but quickly moved back to even par with consecutive birdies on No. 9 and No. 10. The Dallas native wrapped her Second Round with eight straight pars and was tied for 26th at 1-under 143.
Harm began her day with 10 straight pars before sinking birdie on the 362-yard, par-4 11th hole. Although she endured consecutive bogeys on Nos. 13-14, the Gerlingen, Germany, native rebounded with a birdie on No. 15 and was tie for 35th at even-par 144.
As a team, the Cougars stood in 11th place with a score of 584. A day after shooting even-par 288 in Friday's First Round, Houston finished at 296 in Saturday's play.
Arkansas stood in first with a score of 26-under 550 to stand three strokes ahead of Arizona State. Alabama was in third at 556 with Vanderbilt (558) and Northwestern (565) rounding out the top-five leaders.
Vanderbilt's Abbey Carlson enjoyed her second straight round in the 60s with a 69 Saturday and held the individual lead at 9-under 135. Linnea Strom (Arizona State), Lauren Stephenson (Alabama), Alana Uriell (Arkansas), Maria Fassi (Arkansas), Elena Hualde (Auburn) and Maria Balcazar (UCF) were tied for second at 8-under 136.
FINAL ROUND on SUNDAY
The Cougars open the Final Round at 8:15 a.m., Sunday. Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from North Carolina and Chattanooga, starting off No. 10
Kajiki starts the day at 8:15 a.m., Sunday with Tibiletti (8:25 a.m.), Reijers (8:35 a.m.), Harm (8:45 a.m.) and Thothong (8:55 a.m.) following.
