Houston Opens Road Swing in New Mexico

HOUSTON â€" The Houston Soccer team will head west to open a four-match road trip when it visits New Mexico on Friday and New Mexico State on Sunday.
Cougar Bites
- Houston is 3-2-1 on the season after posting a 4-1 win over Southern Miss and drawing 0-0 with Lamar.
- The Cougars are unblemished at Carl Lewis Stadium and will look to pick up their first road win under head coach Diego Bocanegra.
- Hannah Dauzat leads Houston in scoring this season with seven points off of three goals and an assist.
- Rachel Estopare has played a majority of the minutes in goal for Houston, racking up 42 saves.
Balancing Act
- Seven different Cougars have scored goals this season and seven others have notched assists.
- Houston has scored over half of the total amount of goals scored last season with a large portion of the season left to play.
Awards SZN
- #HTownHustle has had players earn weekly awards twice this season and two other earn American Honor Roll accolades.
- Rachel Estopare is the most recent Cougar to earn an award after being named the American Goalkeeper of the Week for her performances against Southern Miss and Lamar.
Record Watch
- Estopare has taken over the top spot in the record book for career save percentage, posting a .831.
- The junior is also second all-time in goals against average behind volunteer assistant coach Cami Koski with 1.25 goals against.
- Senior, Selena Peters is one goal away from landing in the ninth spot on the all-time list for goals and currently sits tied for 10th overall with 11 goals.
- Madison Soileau is currently tied for eighth all-time in SOG with 1.00 shot per game.
Scouting the Lobos
- New Mexico returns to action after an eleven day hiatus. The Lobos last took the field on Sept. 4 in a 1-0 loss to Washington in overtime.
- Claire Lynch leads the Lobos in scoring with two goals this season, while four players have notched assists this season.
- Goalkeeper Emily Johnson has posted three shutouts this season, notching 14 saves.
- Houston is 0-1-0 against New Mexico, last meeting the Lobos in 2002
Scouting the Aggies
- New Mexico State is currently 4-4-1 on the season after dropping its last four matches.
- Audriana Chavez leads the Aggies in scoring with 12 points off of four goals and four assist, leading the team in both categories.
- Three goalkeepers have spent time in goal for the Aggies, led by Dmitri Fong.
- Fong has recorded four shutouts and 30 saves this season.
- Houston is 1-0-0 against New Mexico State, knocking off the Aggies last season.
