Bonner Named to Biletnikoff Watch List

HOUSTON â€" Houston receiver Linell Bonner has been named to the preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the nation's top receiver, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Tuesday.
Bonner led the #HTownTakeover with 98 receptions for 1,118 yards and three touchdowns in 2016. He leads all returning receivers in The American Conference and is second among all returners nationally with 98 receptions in 2016, a number that ranked fifth nationally last season.

He became the 19th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-yard in receiving with his 1,118 receiving yards.
He and classmate Steven Dunbar make up the top returning pass-catching duo in The American with 151 receptions and the second-best duo nationally. The two trail only Middle Tennessee State's Richie James and Ty Lee who combined for 168 receptions in 2016.
The two, along with Chance Allen who completed his playing eligibility in 2016, made Houston one of nine schools nationally with three players with at least 50 receptions each in 2016.
Bonner is the third member of the Houston Football program to earn a spot on a preseason awards, joining center Will Noble (Rimington Trophy) and defensive tackle Ed Oliver (Maxwell Award, Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski rophy, Outland Trophy).
