HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Softball team will close out the regular season with a three-game American Athletic Conference series against USF across May 5-7 at Cougar Softball Stadium.
The series will serve as "Senior Weekend" in recognition of Houston's three seniors -- Jaylin Baldridge, Savannah Martin and Shelby Miller. Baldridge will be recognized on Friday with Martin and Miller to follow on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday will also serve as "Bark at the Park" and fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the game. Fans bringing their four-legged friends will be asked to fill out a release form before entering the gate.

• Houston is coming off a doubleheader split at UT Arlington on Tuesday. The Cougars fell 4-3 in game one but bounced back with an 18-5, six-inning run rule in game two.
• Senior Shelby Miller is the reigning American Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week. In the 12th week of the regular season, Miller posted a .600/1.000/.563 slash with four multi-hit and four-multi-RBI games with all contests coming on the road. For the week, the native of Sweeny, Texas, went 9-for-15 at the plate with a double, triple and home run. She recorded nine RBI and five runs scored.
• On the season, Houston leads The American in batting average (.303), on base percentage (.382) and runs scored (265), tied for first in RBI (232), ranking second in slugging percentage (.434), hits (391), home runs (33) and walks (146).
• Individually, senior Shelby Miller leads The American in slugging percentage (.667), RBI (51) and runs scored (44). Sophomore Maya Thomas ranks second in conference with a .430 batting average, while Miller (.393) and freshman Arielle James (.363) rank third and ninth, respectively. James leads all freshmen in batting average.
• In the circle, sophomore Savannah Heebner leads the team with an 13-9 record and 2.26 ERA. Heebner's 13 wins and ERA both rank fourth in The American. Freshman Trystan Melancon is 11-7 with a 3.03 ERA. Melancon's 11 wins rank fifth in conference, second among freshmen. Sophomore Presley Bell is 2-6 with a 3.52 ERA and two saves. Bell has 15 appearances in relief and six starts. Freshman Hannah Wolfe carries a 4.20 ERA though nine relief appearances.
• Houston trails USF, 12-16, in the all-time series and is 6-9 when hosting the Bulls.

Following the weekend, the Cougars will head to Greenville, N.C., to play in the 2017 American Athletic Conference Softball Championship. The tournament, played at host East Carolina's ECU Softball Complex, will run May 11-13. Seeding is to be determined. Houston stands in second place heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
