Membership is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
McCloskey, who received a bachelor of business administration last May from the nationally recognized C.T. Bauer College of Business, is a three-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection and a four-time member of the University of Houston Dean's List.
The tight end was a Campbell Trophy semifinalist, presented annually to the nation's top football scholar-athlete, in 2016.
Off the field, McCloskey was heavily involved in the Cougar Red Readers program, promoting literacy to children in the Houston community, and has also spent time volunteering at the Fair Haven Food Bank in West Houston.
A two-year starter for Houston, McCloskey saw action in 52 career games after joining the program in 2013. He ended his career with 39 receptions for 406 yards and five touchdowns, four of which came in 2016. He also had 16 career tackles on special teams.
The NFF Hampshire Honor Society capitalizes on the NFF's current National Scholar-Athlete program by greatly expanding the number of scholar-athletes the NFF can recognize each year. Jon F. Hanson, the chairman and founder of The Hampshire Companies and NFF Chairman Emeritus, provided the endowment to launch the NFF Hampshire Honor Society in 2007. Celebrating its 11th year in 2017, the initiative has previously honored 6,634 student-athletes since its inception.
