HOUSTON â€" Houston Baseball will wrap up this short homestand by hosting Sam Houston State Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Schroeder Park. The game will mark the second contest between the two schools as part of the Don Sanders Cup.
DON SANDERS CUP
2017 marks the first season of the Don Sanders Cup as Houston and Sam Houston State will meet three times throughout the remaining half of the year.
Sam Houston State earned a 5-4 victory in Game 1 last week at Constellation Field and following Tuesday's Game 2, the two programs will meet in the series finale on Tuesday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Huntsville.
The Don Sanders Cup represents longtime Houston and SHSU supporter Don Sanders. He made a generous contribution towards the Cougars' video board during the 2016 season.

- The Cougars are coming off a 2-2 week, which was highlighted by a weekend series win over American leader Tulane at Schroeder Park.
- Houston used a come-from-behind victory on Saturday to even the series and powered past the Green Wave on Sunday, winning 12-2 in a seven-inning run-rule victory.
- The series win moved the Cougars into a tie for first place with Tulane with four conference weekends left to play.
- Connor Wong belted three home runs in Sunday's series finale and joined Corey Julks by going 4-for-4 on the day.
- Senior John King shut down Tulane by striking out five in 6.0 innings of work to improve to 5-1.
