Cougars Sweep Series from ECU Behind Walk-Off Win

HOUSTON -- Sophomore Savannah Heebner hit a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning to fuel the University of Houston Softball team to a 2-1 victory and American Athletic Conference series sweep over East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Cougar Softball Stadium.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 23-20 overall and 8-4 in The American, while the Pirates fall to 25-26 overall and 5-10 in league action. The series sweep is the second for Houston on the season and third overall series win in conference play.
Heebner (11-8) also went the distance in the circle to pick up her team-leading 11th win of the season. The native of Sedalia, Colo., scattered just three hits and one run. She recorded seven strikeouts and did not issue a walk.
KEY INNINGS
4th | ECU struck first with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning.
6th | Freshman Sarah Queen responded with a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 1-1.
7th | With one out, Crumpton singled through the right side of the infield. After a pop out, Miller singled up the middle, before Heebner plated Crumpton on a single to right center in the next at bat.
