PALM COAST, Fla. â€" The University of Houston Women's Golf program begins the postseason and looks to defend its title when it tees off at the American Athletic Conference Championships, beginning Sunday morning.
The Cougars will compete on the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Golf & Spa Resort. While this is the fourth straight season that the conference's postseason tournament has been played at this venue, it will be the first time to compete on the Conservatory Course.

TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will be part of an nine-team field. Houston will face No. 25 UCF, No. 38 SMU, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Memphis, Tulane, Tulsa and USF.
The Cougars have posted an 8-6-1 record against American Athletic Conference opponents in tournaments during the regular season.
THE LINEUP
Leonie Harm â€" Leads team with 72.56 scoring average and 12 rounds of par or better… Two-time American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week (March 15, Feb. 22) in 2016-17… Making her second American Championships appearance… Tied for ninth at 225 at 2106 American Championships… Tied for eighth at Clemson Invitational with score of 1-under 215 on March 31-April 2… Tied her own school record with 66 in Second Round at Clover Cup and tied for team lead with score of 216 to finish 12th… Finished second at MountainView Collegiate with score of 9-under-207 on March 10-12… Opened that tournament with a school-record 66, bettering previous low round by two strokes… Captured first title of her career with a score of 218 at the Texas State Invitational on Feb. 13-14 at The Bandit Golf Club in New Braunfels, Texas… Was Houston's first NCAA Championships participant in school history after tying for seventh at the 2016 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional... Native of Gerlingen, Germany, and product of Privatgymnasium St. Leon Rot.
Allie Andersen â€" 74.32 scoring average and second on team with 10 rounds of par or better… Making her American Championships debut… Fired three straight rounds of par or better to tie for fifth at 5-under 211 at Clemson Invitational on March 31-April 2 at The Reserve at Lake Keowee… Posted a 69 in Second Round at Clover Cup… Fired three straight rounds of par or better to lead the Cougars and tie for 11th at the Jim West Challenge on Oct. 9-10 at The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas… Joined Cougars in 2016-17 after competing for first two years at Colorado State… Native of The Woodlands, Texas, and product of The Woodlands High School.
Ivon Reijers â€" 74.68 average and third on team with five rounds of par or better… Making her American Championships debut… Tied for 12th at Clover Cup after firing back-to-back 71s in final two rounds (March 17-19)… Made her collegiate debut at season-opening Mason Rudolph Championships on Sept. 16-18… Opened and closed that tournament with even-par rounds of 72 and tied for 18th with score of 219… Native of Barcelona and product of Maristes and Redlands Community College.
Megan Thothong â€" 75.00 average with three rounds of par or better… 2016 All-American Athletic Conference honoree… Making her third appearance at American Championships with a pair of top-20 finishes… Tied for eight at 224 at 2016 American Championships… Tied for 26th at Clover Cup with score of 221 after shooting 69 in Second Round… Tied for 16th at Texas State Invitational with score of 228… Competed in U.S. Amateur Championship in August 2016 for the second straight season… Native of Dallas and product of Plano West Senior High School.
Courtney Tibiletti â€"75.76 average with two rounds of par or better… Making her American Championships debut… Tied school record with 66, thanks to 10 birdies, in First Round at Clover Cup… Tied for 21st at that tournament with score of 220… Tied for 11th at the Bearkat Invitational (Oct. 3-4, 2016) with a score of 222… Native of Huntsville, Texas, and product of Huntsville High School.
FIRST-ROUND PAIRINGS
Sunday's First Round begins with a 7 a.m. (CDT) start off No 1. The Cougars will compete in groups with No. 25 UCF and No. 38 SMU, beginning at 8:40 a.m. (CDT) Sunday.
Tibiletti begins the day at 8:40 a.m. (CDT) with Thothong (8:50 a.m. CDT), Reijers (9 a.m. CDT), Andersen (910 a.m. CDT) and Harm (9:20 a.m. CDT) following.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars closed the regular season with an eighth-place finish at the Clemson Invitational on March 31-April 2.
Andersen posted three straight rounds of par or better, including a First-Round 69 and set a 54-hole personal best at 5-under 211. Harm enjoyed a 67 in the Second Round and joined Andersen among the top-10 leaders with a score of 1-under 215 to tie for eighth.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
The Cougars look to defend their conference championship crown after winning the tournament in only their second year of team eligibility.
After posting a First-Round score of 319, the Cougars bettered that total by 34 strokes with a score of 3-under 285 in the Second Round.
All five Cougars finished among the tournament's top-20 leaders with sophomore Yuka Kajiki leading the way with a score of 223 to tie for fifth. Thothong finished eighth at 224 with Harm tying for ninth at 225.
Houston finished third at the 2015 American Championships with a score of 878 in their first year of team postseason competition.
UP NEXT
With the completion of The American Championships, the Cougars will learn their NCAA postseason fate. The NCAA Selection Show is slated for 10 a.m., Thursday, April 27, on Golf Channel.
The Cougars look to be one of 64 teams sent to one of these four NCAA Regional sites: UNM Championship Course (Albuquerque, N.M.); The Rawls Course (Lubbock, Texas); Scarlet Course â€" Ohio State Golf Club (Columbus, Ohio) and University of Georgia Golf Course (Athens, Ga.).
