Cougars to Meet Conference Foe UConn

STORRS, Conn. â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team is back on the road and heading to the northeast where it will meet American Athletic Conference opponent UConn on Friday. First serve against the Huskies is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., CT.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
Houston meets the Huskies with a 7-7 record during the spring after defeating Bowling Green 6-1 on Tuesday at The Downtown Club at the Met. The Cougars won five of six singles matches and took the doubles point for their third victory in the last four matches.
Houston has been led in singles play this season by freshman Tsveta Dimitrova and junior Sveva Mazzari. Dimitrova sports a 7-2 record this season and has won three straight decisions dating back to a March 3 victory over Carolina Costamagna of Kansas State. Mazzari has also won seven singles matches this season and holds a 7-3 record after back-to-back wins against Jelena Karla Vujicic of Illinois State and Polina Radeva of Bowling Green.
Both Mazzari and Dimitrova have been part of Houston's top doubles teams so far this season. Mazzari has teamed with freshman Lauren Alter to pick up four wins in doubles play, while Dimitrova has partnered with freshman Cristina Rovira for three wins.
ABOUT THE HUSKIES
UConn enters play with a 4-6 record in spring play, and the Huskies are currently riding a 4-match losing streak after falling 5-2 to Yale on Sunday.
Junior Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva has been UConn's top singles player this season with an 8-2 record in the Huskies' 10 matches. Pletnyeva had won seven consecutive matches before falling 2-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Amy Yang of Yale on March 5.
Pletnyeva has teamed with Emma Alderman on the doubles court to help produce UConn's top record this season at 6-3. The duo has won three straight decisions against Temple, Cornell and Yale.

The Cougars return home to the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility when they host Memphis on Saturday, March 18. First serve against the American Athletic Conference opponent is set for noon CT.

The Cougars are proud to introduce the Center Court Club, a restricted-giving program that directly impacts the needs of the University of Houston Tennis program. Gifts to the Center Court Club provide financial support directly to the University of Houston Tennis program for needs beyond the program's operating budget. Revenue generated from the Center Court Club is used at the discretion of the head coach for program enhancements. Membership in the Center Court Club is annual and requires a minimum $100 gift.

ACE
For a minimum gift of $500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation and a stadium blanket.
US OPEN
For a minimum gift of $1,000, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket and a lesson from the coach.
GRAND SLAM
For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
