SINGLES
• Houston is coming off a 1-0 loss to McNeese on Wednesday. Sophomore Savannah Heebner recorded a career-high nine strikeouts against the Cowgirls, the most for the Cougars since Bailey Watts (2010-13) fanned 10 against UAB on May 4, 2013.
• Over the weekend, Houston twice rallied in the seventh inning to pick up a 2-1 series win at UCF to open American Athletic conference play. The series victory, which is the first under Head Coach Kristin Vesely's stewardship, is also the first for the Cougars over UCF since 2013 and first in Orlando, Fla., since 2006.
• At UCF, freshman Arielle James led the Cougars with a .500/.600/.500 split, going 5-for-10 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. For her efforts, she was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll, her second time garnering such recognition.
