HOUSTON -- Coming off two seventh-inning, come-from-behind victories, the University of Houston Softball team kicks off a five-game, non-conference swing with a 5:30 p.m. first pitch Wednesday against McNeese at Cougar Softball Stadium.

SINGLES
• Over the weekend, Houston twice rallied in the seventh inning to pick up a 2-1 series win at UCF to open American Athletic conference play. The series victory, which is the first under Head Coach Kristin Vesely's stewardship, is also the first for the Cougars over UCF since 2013 and first in Orlando, Fla., since 2006.
• At UCF, freshman Arielle James led the Cougars with a .500/.600/.500 split, going 5-for-10 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. For her efforts, she was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll, her second time garnering such recognition.
• On the season, Houston leads The American in batting average (.303) and on base percentage (.389), ranking second in slugging percentage (.458), home runs (24) and hit by pitch (18).
• Individually, senior Shelby Miller leads the league with a .729 slugging percentage and 32 RBI, while sophomore Maya Thomas is first in on base percentage (.507) and second in batting average (.477), ranking 13th in the country. Freshman Arielle James sits fourth in conference with a .404 batting average, first among all freshmen.
• Sophomore Savannah Heebner (7-4) and freshman Trystan Melancon (7-5) lead the Cougars in the circle. The two each have seven wins, tied for fourth in The American. Melancon leads the team with a 2.45 ERA, ranking fifth in the conference, while Heebner sits seventh with a 2.55 ERA. Sophomore Presley Bell is 2-3 with a 3.78 ERA and one save. Bell has nine appearances in relief, while freshman Hannah Wolfe has seven relief appearances.
• Houston leads McNeese, 11-5, in the all-time series and is 9-4 when hosting the Cowgirls at Cougar Softball Stadium.
