WIN STREAK ON THE LINE
Junior thrower Cameron Cornelius enters Saturday's meet with an undefeated mark in each shot put competition he has entered this season, including a gold at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
Cornelius made his return to the outdoor ring a week ago after a knee injury cut his 2016 season short. The Deer Park, Texas, native let loose with a dominating performance in which five of his six throws would have won the event, including a personal best 61-11.5 (18.88m) on his final attempt.
EVENT TO WATCH
The Cougars enter a strong field into each of the men's and women's long jump competitions Saturday. For the women, freshman Samiyah Samuels makes her Cougar debut on the runway, where she will be joined by freshman Justice Henderson, who finished fourth at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational with a mark of 18-6.0 (5.64m) last week.
The men enter the trio of Trumaine Jefferson, Jared Kerr and Antwan Dickerson, who swept the podium at the 2017 American Indoor Championships, while 60-meter dash Indoor All-American Cameron Burrell will join the fold. Kerr won the competition at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational with a mark of 24-4.25 (7.42m).
