Cougars Fall to No. 17/17 Utah

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- The University of Houston Softball team fell 8-0 in a six-inning run rule to No. 17/17 Utah on Friday night at Big League Dreams Complex as part of the Mary Nutter Classic.
With the decision, the Cougars fell to 5-9 overall, while the Utes improved to 10-0.
Freshman Arielle James picked up Houston's lone hit in a 1-for-2 performance. Sophomore Elise LeBeouf also reached on a hit by pitch.
KEY INNINGS
Utah scored one run in the first inning, two in the third, four in the fifth and one in the sixth to hand the Cougars their second shutout in as many days.

The Cougars will continue their participation in the Mary Nutter Classic with two games on Saturday. Houston will face rv/rv Oregon State in a 2:30 p.m. CT first pitch, followed with a 5 p.m. tilt with Purdue.
