Harm Named American Golfer of the Week

HOUSTON â€" After earning a pair of top-10 finishes in an eight-day stretch, University of Houston sophomore Leonie Harm was recognized as the American Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Playing as an individual, Harm won the first title of her collegiate career with a score of 218 at the Texas State Invitational at The Bandit Golf Club in New Braunfels, Texas, on Feb. 14. Battling cool temperature and overcast skies, Harm opened that tournament with a 70 and played steady golf over the remaining 36 holes.
She became the fourth different Cougar to earn medalist honors, joining Raegan Bremer and current teammates Emily Gilbreth and Megan Thothong.
Earlier this week, Harm led Houston against an elite field, which featured nine of the nation's top-50 programs at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship at English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans on Monday.
The Gerlingen, Germany, native shot even-par 72s in each of the first two rounds and finished at 217 to tie for 10th
As a team, the Cougars tied for ninth with No. 19 and enjoyed a victory against No. 39 Oregon.
Houston Men's and Women's Golf swept Wednesday's weekly awards with junior Michael Perras being recognized as the league's Men's Golfer of the Week.

Harm and the Cougars return to action to play host to their first tournament in program history.
The Cougars welcome teams to The Dickson on Feb. 27-28 on the Tournament Course at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.
From there, Houston competes at the MountainView College, hosted at Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., on March 10-12.
