HUMBLE, Texas --The University of Houston Men's Golf program opens the 2017 spring season when it plays host to its own All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola, beginning Friday morning at Golf Club of Houston.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played with 18 holes each day, starting at 9 a.m., Friday and Saturday and wrapping up at 8 a.m., Sunday. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.

TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 13 Baylor, No. 21 Auburn, No. 38 South Carolina, Charlotte, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, New Mexico State, Rice, Sam Houston State, Samford, SMU, Southeastern Louisiana, UTSA and Wisconsin.
THE LINEUP
Michael Perras -- Second on team with 71.33 average and seven rounds of par or better... Tied for 13th at Bayou City Collegiate Intercollegiate at even-par 216... Was the 2016 NCAA Franklin Regional individual champion at 16-under 200... Native of Deer Park, Texas, and product of Deer Park High School.
Matt Williams -- Posted a 72.00 average with one round of par or better... Made season debut at Maui Jim Intercollegiate (Sept. 23-25, 2016) in Scottsdale, Ariz... Tied for 40th with a score of 216... Posted a career-low-tying 68 in the Second Round.
Matt Scobie -- Three-year letterman... Has posted a 73.00 average with one round of par or better this season... Tied for 61st at season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz. (Sept. 23-25, 2016)... Native of Ajax, Ontario, Canada and product of Ajax High School.
Emmett Oh -- Three-year letterman... Has posted a 72.50 average with three rounds of par or better this season... Tied for 30th at Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2016) at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas... Native of Calgary Alberta, Canada and product of Central Memorial School.
Papito Gonzalez -- Leads Cougars with 71.00 average and nine rounds of par or better in 2016-17... Tied for eighth at Bayou City Collegiate Classic at 1-under 215... Opened that tournament with consecutive sub-par rounds... Opened Maui Jim Intercollegiate with career-low 67 and followed with 70... Led Cougars and tied for 13th at 5-under 208 on Sept. 23-25... Native of McAllen, Texas, and product of Memorial High School.
George Gardner -- Competing as an individual... Has posted a 72.17 average with two rounds of par or better... Tied for eighth in his collegiate debut at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2016) with a score of 1-under-215... Began his collegiate career with a 4-under 68 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas... Native of Southlake, Texas and product of Carroll High School.
Zach Tracy -- Competing as an individual... Fourth on team with 72.11 average but stands third with five rounds of par or better... Made his collegiate debut a memorable one... Posted three straight rounds of par or better at Bayou City Collegiate Classic to lead Cougars and tie for fifth at 2-under 214 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas... Sat out as a redshirt with the Cougars in 2015-16... Native of Houston and product of Seven Lakes High School.
FIRST-ROUND TEE TIMES
For Friday's First Round, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from South Carolina and Auburn off No. 1.
Gonzalez begins at 9:48 a.m., Friday with Oh (9:56 a.m.), Scobie (10:04 a.m.), Williams (10:12 a.m.) and Perras (10:20 a.m.) following. Gardner begins off No. 1, while Tracy starts his day off No. 10, with both teeing off at 9 a.m., Friday.
Saturday's Second Round begins at 9 a.m., with Sunday's Final Round teeing off at 8 a.m.
ALL-AMERICAN INTERCOLLEGIATE PRESENTED by COCA-COLA HISTORY
For years, the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola ranked as one of the nation's premier collegiate tournaments, featuring some of the country's top student-athletes and teams.
The tournament was played every season from 1955 to 1990. After a one-year break in 1992, the tournament picked up and was played again from 1992 to 1997. The All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola resumed in 2006 and was played each season through the 2008-09 campaign.
This marks the second straight season in which the Cougars have hosted this tournament. A year ago, Arkansas captured the team title with a score of 9-under 855 with Razorback Taylor Moore earning medalist honors at 9-under 207.
The Cougars lead the way in their tournament with 23 team titles and 20 individual championships during its history
LAST TIME OUT
In their fall finale, the Cougars posted a team score of 860 to finish 13th at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic on Nov. 4-56, 2016, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i.
Perras posted a score of 3-under-210 to tie for 19th, while Gonzalez tied for 27th at 1-under 212.
UP NEXT
Following the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola, the Cougars play host to another tournament when they participate at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Feb. 26-28 at Querencia Golf Club in San Jose, Cabo, Mexico.
From there, Houston will host the Border Olympics on March 10-11 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
