Cougars Hit Road for UTEP, New Mexico State

EL PASO â€" The Houston Cougar Women's Tennis team is on the road for the first time during the 2017 spring season, for a pair of matches at UTEP on Saturday in El Paso, before continuing west to Las Cruces, N.M., to take on New Mexico State.
First serve against the Miners is scheduled for Noon CT, while the match against the Aggies will begin at 11 a.m.
ABOUT THE COUGARS
Houston has been led by junior Sveva Mazzari who will bring a 3-match win streak into weekend play. After dropping her season opening singles match against UT Arlington, Mazzari has rebounded to pick up wins against Sydney Thomas of Prairie View A&M, Whitney Williams of Abilene Christian and Jelena Dzinic of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from the No. 2 position.
Freshman Tsveta Dimitrova holds an undefeated spring record after tallying wins in back-to-back matches against ACU and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Dimitrova has teamed with freshman Cristina Rovira for a 2-0 record on the doubles court. The duo has picked up 6-3 wins against Williams/Erin Walker of Abilene Christian and Dzinic/Judit Vives of UT Arlington.
SCOUTING THE MINERS
UTEP enters play with a 2-5 overall record, with all seven of their matches coming on the road in 2017. Individually, the miners have been led by Vivienne Kulicke who enters play with a 3-3 record in dual matches, however Kulicke has dropped her last two contests.
The Miners have been a solid doubles team this season, sporting a 12-9 record in dual play. Their team of Kulicke and Milou Pietersz holds a 6-1 record while playing on court 1, while Raven Bennett and Daphne Visscher are 4-3.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
New Mexico State holds a 3-1 overall record after most recently defeating Mesa Community College 7-0 on Jan. 27. A pair of Aggies hold perfect spring records, with Lindsay Harlas and Rebecca Keijzerwaard each sitting at 2-0 this season. Harlas plays primarily from the court six position, while Keijzerwaard plays from the No. 3.
Keijzerwaard has teamed with Vanessa Valdez to post a perfect doubles record as well. Playing on court 2 doubles, the team has a 2-0 record with wins over Central Oklahoma and Weber State.
JOIN THE CENTER COURT CLUB
The Cougars are proud to introduce the Center Court Club, a restricted-giving program that directly impacts the needs of the University of Houston Tennis program. Gifts to the Center Court Club provide financial support directly to the University of Houston Tennis program for needs beyond the program's operating budget. Revenue generated from the Center Court Club is used at the discretion of the head coach for program enhancements. Membership in the Center Court Club is annual and requires a minimum $100 gift.

For a minimum gift of $100, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball.
ACE
For a minimum gift of $500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation and a stadium blanket.
US OPEN
For a minimum gift of $1,000, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket and a lesson from the coach.
GRAND SLAM
For a minimum gift of $2,500, supporters receive a team poster and a signed tennis ball, private practice invitation, a stadium blanket, fleece jacket, a lesson from the coach and a group lesson from the coaching staff.
