Houston Baseball junior ace Trey Cumbie was recognized by Collegiate Baseball as a Preseason Second-Team All-American on Monday … Cumbie was one of just two American Athletic Conference student-athletes named to at least the First or Second Teams, as Wichita State outfielder Greyson Jenista earned Second-Team honors as well … Cumbie is fresh off a sophomore campaign that was highlighted by him being named The American Pitcher of the Year and a First-Team All-American … The Lufkin, Texas native, led the conference with a 2.04 ERA and a 10-2 record in 15 starts … The southpaw fanned 82 in 101.1 innings and had four complete games … The 12 Days of Baseball Contest continues and will run until Sunday, Dec. 24 … The contest allows Social Media Fans on the Cougars' Facebook fan page (UHCougarBB), Twitter page (@UHCougarBB) and Instagram account (@UHCougarBB) to participate and have the chance to win prizes over the 12-day period.

At LSU, guards Rob Gray and Corey Davis Jr. posted 20 points apiece … The 20-point effort was Gray's sixth of the season, his third straight and 64th of his career … Against Prairie View, sophomore guard Armoni Brooks poured in a career-high 24 points with six 3-pointers, including three straight during a key stretch midway through the second half … Brooks was one of five Cougars to reach double-digit points, joined by Davis Jr. (15), Gray (11), Devin Davis (10) and Wes VanBeck (10) … Fans can purchase Reserved season tickets for $200, while General Admission tickets are available for only $100 at uhcougars.com/tickets … As the former Hofheinz Pavilion is transformed into the $60-million Fertitta Center, the Cougars will play their 2017-18 home games inside Health & PE Arena on the campus of nearby Texas Southern University.

Houston improved to 9-3 on the season with a 98-67 win over UIW on Monday … The 98 points are the most scored in a single game by the Cougars since 2009 … The game, originally scheduled for 11 a.m. at Texas Southern's H&PE Arena, was moved to Rice University due to a power outage at TSU … Sophomore guard Jasmyne Harris led the Cougars with a game-high 26 points … Harris was one of five to score in double figures, joined by Octavia Barnes (14), Mynah West (13), Dorian Branch (11) and Angela Harris (11).

2017 Outland Trophy winner Ed Oliver was named the #HTownTakeover's eighth consensus All-American, and its first since Andre Ware accomplished the feat in 1989.

Oliver earned First-Team All-America honors from three of the five outlets the NCAA recognizes for consensus designation, the FWAA, The Walter Camp Foundation and The AFCA … The Houston native earned Second-Team honors from the AP and The Sporting News … Also The American's Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Nagurski Trophy, Oliver was also named to All-America teams by ESPN (1st), CBS (1st), AFCA (1st) and Phil Steele (1st) … After the Hawai'i Bowl, Steven Dunbar will suit up for one more collegiate game as the wide receiver has been invited to play in the 93rd East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 20 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Fans are invited to join the nationally ranked Houston Women's Golf team's annual fundraiser, slated to begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14 … The fun-filled event will be held at Topgolf Spring (560 Spring Park Center Blvd., Spring, TX 77373) … All proceeds from the event benefit the Houston Women's Golf program … Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell, Associate Head Coach Lucy Nunn and student-athletes will be on hand to participate with fans … Tickets are available for $175 per person or $700 per foursome with snacks, dinner, drinks and a gift provided for each player … Two-time LPGA Player of the Year Stacy Lewis Chadwell will be a special guest at the event … Participants will also enjoy a silent auction with a variety of prizes. Freshman forward Jazmin Grant has been called up for the U-20 Jamaican National Team camp Dec. 27-Jan. 3 in Orlando, Fla. … In 2017, Grant finished second on the team in goals (5), assists (5) and points (15) … She was named to The American All-Rookie Team at the conclusion of the regular season.
SWIMMING & DIVING

Senior diver Micaela Bouter used two first-place finishes and a second-place finish over the weekend to qualify for the 2018 Commonwealth Games … Bouter opened competition on Friday where she and Nicole Gillis of Arkansas turned in a first-place finish in the 3-Meter Synchronized … The duo finished the event with an overall score of 286.45 … The following day, Bouter put on a strong performance in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Springboard events … The South Africa native earned top honors in the 3-Meter after posting a personal-best score of 315.30 … Bouter would close out competition with a second-place finish in the 1-Meter tallying up 270.70 points … The games are slated to be held on the Gold Coast next year from April 4-15 and welcome over 6,000 athletes from over 60 Commonwealth nations.
