SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico -- University of Houston junior Leonie Harm enjoyed her third straight day of par or better to finish third at the Battle at the Beach on Sunday afternoon with a score of 5-under 208.
Harm captured a season-best finish with her performance but enjoyed her fifth straight top-15 showing in 2017-18.
The Gerlingen, Germany, native started her day on the 6,360-yard, par-71 course on a rough note with a bogey on No. 5. Fortunately, she returned to even par with a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole and added another birdie on No. 9.
Harm went on to make birdie on No. 13 and, after enduring two bogeys in a three-hole stretch on Nos. 15-17, rallied with a birdie on No. 18 and closed out her tournament with four straight pars.
UCLA's Lilia Vu posted a 67 in Sunday's Final Round and earned medalist honors with a score of 8-under 205. Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupcho finished second at 206, while Texas' Sophia Schubert and Hannah Wood of Oklahoma tied for fourth at 209.
As a team, the Cougars fired a total of 290 as a group Sunday and tied for fifth with Auburn. UCLA posted a score of 12-under 272 in the Final Round and earned the team championship with a score of 839 to finish three shots ahead of Oklahoma.
Texas finished third at 848, while Virginia finished fourth at 865. Following the Cougars, Baylor (871), Wake Forest (871), Vanderbilt (876) and Mississippi State (879) rounded out the top-10 leaders.
Houston senior Allie Andersen tied for 43rd at 222, while senior Megan Thothong finished 49th at 223. Sophomore Amanda Elich tied for 53rd at 226, and senior Courtney Tibiletti tied for 62nd at 228.
UP NEXT
Following the Battle at the Beach, the Cougars open their spring season at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship on Feb. 18-20, 2018, at English Turn Country Club in New Orleans.
From there, the team will play host to their own The Dickson on Feb. 26-27 at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
