OFFENSE
• With junior kicker Caden Novikoff's 39-yard field goal on the opening drive of the game, Houston has now scored in 222 consecutive games dating back to a 48-0 loss at No. 15 Texas on Sept. 23, 2000. Major Applewhite split repetitions at quarterback for the Longhorns in the game.
• With D'Eriq King rushing for 141 yards and Linell Bonner pulling in 100 receiving yards, Houston had a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver in the same game for the second time this season after accomplishing the feat against No. 25/rv Memphis on Oct. 19 when Dillon Birden ran for 106 yards and Bonner pulled in 121 receiving yards.
DEFENSE
• With one turnover forced, Houston now has 144 since 2013, the most among FBS schools.
BIG PLAYS
• Houston recorded eight plays of 20 yards or more at Tulane.
Ed Oliver
• Named a Nagurski Trophy finalist on Wednesday and an Outland Trophy semifinalist on Thursday, Oliver ended Tulane's second drive with a sack to give him 3.5 on the year.
• The sack was Oliver's 34th career tackle for loss in only 23 career games. He entered Saturday leading the nation with a career average of 1.48 tackles for loss per game.
D'Eriq King
• Saturday's game marked D'Eriq King's second career start at quarterback.
• King ran for a career-high 141 yards on Saturday, his first career 100-yard rushing game.
• Saturday's effort was the first 100-yard rushing game by a Houston quarterback since Greg Ward Jr. ran for 142 yards against Tulsa on Oct. 25, 2016.
• King's 33-yard rushing TD at the end of the third quarter was his fifth career rushing touchdown, all of which have come this season.
• With a 16-yard rushing TD with 6:50 left in the fourth quarter, King picked up his second career game with multiple rushing touchdowns after running for two at No. 17/14 USF on Oct. 28.
• King had three rushing attempts of over 30 yards -- a 46-yard gain on his first attempt and two 33-yard gains.
• Passing wise, King completed a career-high 18 passes while attempting a career-high 26 passes.
Nick Thurman
• Senior defensive end Nick Thurman tied a career high with six tackles. He also had six stops against Tulane last season.
Courtney Lark
• Sophomore receiver Courtney Lark tied his career high by the end of the first quarter with two receptions on Houston's third drive. His second reception netted 38 yards, one yard off his career long of 39 yards at No. 17/14 USF on Oct. 28.
• Lark would eclipse his career high with his third reception on the first play of the second half.
• Lark finished with 62 yards on the day.
Leroy Godfrey
• Sophomore linebacker Leroy Godfrey posted a career high in tackles for loss with three stops behind the line. His previous high of two tackles for loss came in Houston's win at No. 17/14 USF on Oct. 28.
• Godfrey tied a career high with eight tackles, his second straight game with the total. His eight tackles led the Cougars.
Caden Novikoff
• Junior kicker Caden Novikoff recorded a 39-yard field goal at the 9:00 mark of the first quarter for his seventh consecutive field goal conversion.
Dane Roy
• Houston punter Dane Roy placed both of his punts inside Tulane's 20-yard line and leads The American with 23 punts inside the 20 on the season.
Jerard Carter
• Junior defensive end Jerard Carter finished with a career-high seven tackles. His previous high was six tackles set at Navy on Oct. 8, 2016.
• Carter recorded a career-high three tackles for loss. His previous high was one, a mark achieved twice and last at No. 17/14 USF on Oct. 28, 2017.
• Carter tied his career high with his first sack of the season in the third quarter.
Isaiah Johnson
• Junior cornerback Isaiah Johnson picked off his second career pass towards the end of the third quarter and returned the ball 39 yards to the Tulane 38-yard line. His other interception this season came at Temple on Sept. 30.
Mulbah Car
• Sophomore running back Mulbah Car finished with a season-high 19 rushing attempts. His previous high of 18 came at No. 17/14 USF on Oct. 28.
Linell Bonner
• With seven receptions Saturday, senior receiver Linell Bonner has at least six catches in nine of 10 games in 2017.
• Bonner recorded his eighth career 100-yard receiving game and the fourth of the season with 100 receiving yards Saturday. With his eighth game of 100 yards or more, Bonner tied Deontay Greenberry (2012-14) and James Dixon (1987-88) for most career 100-yard receiving games in program history.
• Bonner's 100 yards also marked his second straight season with at least four 100-yard receiving games in a season.
Steven Dunbar
• Senior receiver Steven Dunbar hauled in a 23-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
Terrell Williams
• Senior safety Terrell Williams tied his career high with seven tackles. Williams also recorded seven tackles against Texas Tech on Sept. 23.
