The 2016 captain started eight of 10 games he played in this season, missing three due to injury. Named to The American Athletic Conference's Second Team, Wilson opened his senior year with a bang, returning a missed Oklahoma field goal from the back of his own end zone for a touchdown in Houston's 33-23 win over the Sooners. He also added a career-high 10 tackles and a pass breakup in the game, earning Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors.
Wilson finished the year with 43 tackles, including four tackles for loss and two sacks, five pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble. He also added 21 kick returns for 510 yards while pulling in five receptions for 52 yards and four carries for six yards while seeing time as a running back in the Las Vegas Bowl.
He closed out his career with 81 tackles and 17 tackles for loss with four sacks, five pass breakups and three fumble recoveries. Wilson had 44 career kick returns for 1,121 yards and two touchdowns.
Wilson finished his career with eight touchdowns in six different ways. In addition to his missed field goal return vs. Oklahoma, he also had two rushing touchdowns, two kick return touchdowns, a fumble return, an interception return and a blocked field goal return.
In 2015, he was the only player in the nation to score multiple touchdowns in all three phases of the game with two touchdowns each on offense, defense and special teams.
Wilson is the third Houston player to be invited to the NFLPA Bowl, joining quarterback Greg Ward Jr. and defensive end Cameron Malveaux in receiving the honor.
Last year's NFLPA Bowl game saw Houston alum Elandon Roberts make a significant impact to help improve his draft stock before being taken as a sixth-round NFL Draft selection by the New England Patriots.
In addition to the NFLPA Bowl, linebacker Steven Taylor and defensive tackle B.J. Singleton have been invited to the 92nd East-West Shrine Game the same day in St. Petersburg, Fla.
