QUICK HITS
• Head coach Kaddie Platt is very familiar with tournament participant HBU, having posted a 499-157 record as head coach of the Huskies for 17 seasons (1995-2011). Platt was also a four-year letterwinner at HBU from 1988-91 and still ranks eighth all-time in solo blocks (98) and 11th in digs (1,193). She was named all-district in 1991, voted MVP in both 1989 and 1991, and inducted into the HBU Sports Hall of Honor in 2000. Houston swept HBU, 3-0, in the Houston Baptist Invitational on Aug. 27.
• Junior outside hitter Sarah Afflerbaugh and sophomore middle blocker Chenelle Walker were both named to the Houston Cougar Classic All-Tournament Team. Afflerbaugh led Houston with 46 total kills, averaging 3.54 per set, while Walker accumulated 27 kills, averaging 2.08 per set, across matches against Texas Southern (W, 3-1), Idaho State (L, 1-3) and Lamar (W, 3-2). For her efforts, Afflerbaugh was named to the AAC Honor Roll.
• Freshman libero Katie Karbo has recorded match-highs in digs in all six matches this season. The native of Azle, Texas, ranks fourth in the American Athletic Conference averaging 4.88 digs per set.
