Cougars Fall 4-0 at UCF

ORLANDO - The Houston Cougar Soccer team fell 4-0 at UCF in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Thursday at the UCF Track and Soccer Field.
Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Young had four saves while Houston had three shots between senior Tiffani Echeverria (2) and junior Kristina Schulz.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior Kristina Schulz had the first look at goal on the night. In the third minute of play, the Fort Worth, Texas, native had a shot that the Knights blocked.
At the 33rd minute mark, UCF's Morgan Ferrara put the Knights on the board with her first goal of the season.
In the second half, UCF was able to find the scoreboard again in the 70th minute on a goal by Bridget Callahan.
Senior Tiffani Echeverria had two good looks at the goal in the 70th minute of play. The Sugar Land, Texas, native's first look came off a corner kick from junior Vanessa Almaguer that UCF goalkeeper Vera Varis saved. Less than a minute late, Echeverria had another good look at the net, but her shot went wide.
The Knights were able to add another score in the 79th minute when Carol Rodriguez scored on a penalty kick. Just a minute later, Rodriguez found the scoreboard again off on an assist from Peyton Grewal her second goal of the game.
The Cougars now sit at 5-2-1 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
UP NEXT:
The Cougars head to Tampa, Fla., to face the Bulls of USF at noon, Sunday at Corbett Stadium. USF is the only team in the nation with a perfect record.
