King Named to Hornung Award Honor Roll

HOUSTON -- After making University of Houston history in Houston's 64-3 win at Texas State Saturday night, true freshman D'Eriq King has been named to the Paul Hornung Award's weekly honor roll.
King became the first player in Houston history to record a touchdown reception, a passing touchdown and a kick return touchdown in the same game.

He got things started off in the first quarter when took a Greg Ward Jr. pass and burst through the Texas State secondary for a 48-yard touchdown reception, one of four receptions for 61 yards on the night.
Then in the second quarter, King took a jet sweep around the right side of the field and lobbed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Steven Dunbar before being hit by the Texas State pressure.
King then opened up the second half with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to complete the trifecta. King ended the night with a game-best 234 all-purpose yards â€" 27 rushing yards, 61 receiving yards, 130 kickoff return yards and 16 punt return yards.
