GAME NOTES
• Houston defeated non-conference foe Lamar, 42-0, to improve to 419-352-15 all-time.
• With the win, Houston improved to 2-0 on the year.
• Houston returns to action at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, for their first road contest of the 2016-17 season when they travel to Cincinnati.
• Lamar won the toss and chose to receive. Seniors Brandon Wilson, Cameron Malveaux, Tyler McCloskey and Greg Ward were captains.
• The game was delayed for 3:36 in the second quarter due to lightning in the area.

• Houston is 13-3 all-time at TDECU Stadium.
• Houston has won its last 10 games inside TDECU Stadium. The Cougars' last loss in front of the hometown fans was a 31-24 setback to Tulane on Nov. 8, 2014.

SERIES vs. LAMAR
• Houston is 4-0 all-time against Lamar
• Saturday's game marked the first meeting against the Cardinals since a 42-35 win on Sept. 17, 1983, inside the Houston Astrodome.
• In the all-time series, Houston has outscored the Cardinals (152-41), an average margin of victory of 27.75 points per game.

OFFENSE
• With 7:33 remaining in the first half, Mulbah Car scored from two yards out to cap a 13 play, 91-yard drive. That scoring drive is the longest in terms of yardage for Houston this season.
• Houston had three players reach triple digit rushing yards in the game against Lamar, with Kevrin Justice (111), Mulbah Car (109) and Kyle Postma (106) accomplishing the feat. This is the first time since Oct. 25, 1974 that the Cougars have had three players rush for over 100 yards (John Housman [141], Reggie Cherry [116] and Marshall Johnson [102]).
• Houston finished the game with 511 total offensive yards. The last time the Cougars reached 500+ yards was against Navy on Novermber 27, 2015 with 555 yards.
DEFENSE
• Houston's defense managed to force Lamar into 10 punts, while holding the Cardinals to just 15 rushing yards on 28 total carries.
• Houston forced two fumbles, one of which was recovered by freshman Dillon Birden - who stripped the ball late in the game.
• The Cougars have forced 111 turnovers since 2013, the most of any team in the nation.
• The Cougars defense did not allow the Lamar offense to cross the 50-yard line in the game. All 11 of Lamar's drives started and ended in their own territory.
YOUNG COUGARS
• Houston saw nine players make their Houston debut in Saturday's game against Lamar, including Mulbah Car, Josh Burrell, Courtney Lark, Aymiel Fleming, Jarrid Williams, Zorrell Ezell, Austin Robinson, Terry Mark and Keith Corbin.
Kyle Postma
• Junior quarterback Kyle Postma made his second career start at quarterback for the Cougars. His last start came against UConn on Nov. 21, 2015.
• On the opening drive for Houston, Postma kept a zone read for a 39-yard touchdown run. The rush for Postma was the longest of his career and is his second career score on the ground.
• The quarterback added another score with his legs on the Cougars' first drive of the second half on a 5-yard keeper to make the score 35-0.
• Postma finished the game with a career-high 106 yards rushing on seven carries.
Tyus Bowser
• Senior defensive lineman Tyus Bowser recorded his 15th career sack on Houston's second defensive possesion of teh game.
• Bowser now has sacks in back-to-back games afer also recording one in Houston's season opener against Oklahoma.
Mulbah Car
• Freshman running back Mulbah Car made his debut for the Cougars on Houston's second offensive drive. He quickly made an impact, taking his first carry 38 yards for a first down.
• Car found the endzone for the first time in his career on a 2-yard score with 7:33 remaining in the first half.
• With his 109 yards on 20 carries, Car became the first true-freshman running back since Ryan Jackson in 2012 to rush for 100-yards in a game.
Kevrin Justice
• Redshirt freshman running back Kevrin Justice found the endzone for the first time in his career on a 1-yard touchdown run on Houston's first offensive drive after the ligthning delay.
• Justice scored again later in the half on a 1-yard scamper to cap a 7 play, 18 yard drive following the Cougars recovery of the `onside kick.
• Justice finished the game with 111 yards on a team-high 27 carries for his first career 100-yard performance.
Terrell Williams
• After the Cougars scored to extend their lead to 21-0, Terrell Williams recovered the ensuing kickoff at the Lamar 18 yard line. The heads up play is officially scored as an onside kick recovery.
Steven Taylor
• Senior linebacker Steven Taylor collected 1.5 sacks for giving him 3.5 for the season and 20.5 in his career. Taylor moved into ninth on the all-time Houston sacks list passing Bill Stohler (1971-73).
• Taylor also moved up on the all-time tackles for loss chart, passing Phillip Steward (40.5; 2009-12) and Wilson Whitley (1973-76) for sixth with 41.5.
Dillon Birden
• Junior defensive back Dillon Birden picked up Houston's first turnover of the game on a strip fumble that he recovered himself, while seeing action in his first game for the Cougars.
Josh Burrell
• Redshirt freshman Josh Burrell made his debut for the Cougars at running back, carrying for 25 yards on five carries including a 2-yard score with 11:12 remaining in the game.
D'Eriq King
• True freshman D'Eriq King saw his first action of his career at quarterback, filling in for Kyle Postma late in the fourth quarter.
