HOUSTON -- Houston Softball Head Coach Kristin Vesely completed her coaching staff with the addition of two-time All-American Cassie Tysarczyk as volunteer assistant coach.
"Having Cassie round out our staff has been a big step for the program. She has a great reputation getting the most out of the players she worked with at Miami (Ohio) and Texas A&M," Vesely said. "I am excited to have her knowledge of the game along with her work ethic as the final member of our staff. What Cassie represents as a player, coach and person makes Houston Softball a great fit."
In her position, Tysarczyk (pronounced Ty-SAR-check) will work with primarily with the outfielders and assist in infield, base running and hitting. She will also serve as Houston Softball's camp director and video analysis.
"I want to thank Coach Vesely for giving me the opportunity to work alongside her and her staff she has so effectively put together," Tysarczyk said. "I am looking forward to coming back to Texas and being a part of the Houston Softball program."
Tysarczyk comes to Houston after spending the 2015-16 season as an assistant coach at Miami (Ohio).
As a member of the Redhawks coaching staff, the team broke school records in six statistical categories and Tysarczyk helped the program to its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance when they were named the No. 3 seed at the Ann Arbor Regional.
She is in her third season playing in the National Pro Fastpitch league after signing with the USSSA Pride. Tysarczyk is currently playing for the Akron Racers since joining them in 2015.
During the 2015 collegiate season, Tysarczyk served as an intern under Texas A&M Softball Director of Operations Terry Schweikert. During that time, she analyzed game film, developed a template to display hitters' strong and weak areas and shadowed Evans and her assistants.
Tysarczyk was a four-year letterwinner for Texas A&M from 2011-14, where she was a two-time team captain. She was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Third Team and All-SEC Second Team as a senior in 2014 after hitting .366. She finished her career with the Aggies hitting .301 with 40 home runs and 145 RBIs.
Tysarczyk earned her Bachelor's degree in psychology in only three years, graduating in 2013. She earned a Master's degree in Sport Management from Texas A&M in 2015.
