Platt Adds Halle Evans to 2016-17 Roster

HOUSTON -- Head Coach Kaddie Platt has completed her 2016-17 roster with the addition of Halle Evans, Platt announced Thursday.
"Halle adds depth in the setter position. She has a high level of playing experience, tenacity and a great work ethic," Platt said. "Halle has great location with her sets to the pins and can run a tempo offense. She is a great example of an athlete that will do what it takes to be successful! We are excited to add Halle to the 2016 roster. She is the perfect fit for the team."
Evans is a 5-9 setter from Denton, Texas. She was a three-year letterwinner at Billy Ryan High School and played club ball for Dallas Premier. Evans was the 2012 Team MVP and was awarded the Billy Ryan Award during her senior season. She also helped Dallas Premier to a national qualifier. Evans also earned the 2013 and 2014 Lion Heart Award for her outstanding leadership with the Instinct Volleyball Club.
She joins returners Keandra McCardell and Katie Krebs as the Cougars setters group.

Katie Karbo

Katie Karbo is a 5-7 libero/defensive specialist from Alze, Texas. She played for All Saints Episcopal and was a member of the Texas Advantage Volleyball Club. This past summer, Karbo helped the TAV 18 Black team earn a bronze medal at USA Nationals. Karbo also led All Saints Episcopal to the 2015 Southwest Preparatory Conference Championship runner up. She was a member of the 2013 SPC Championship team.
"Katie is a serious competitor with great skills passing, serving, and defending," Platt said. "She has played a high level of volleyball and has great volleyball instincts with a no fear defensive attitude. We are looking for her to step in right away and compete for the libero position."
Megan Duncan
6-1 | OH/RS | Plano, Texas | Plano Senior HS / Mad Frog VBC
Megan Duncan is a 6-1 attacker from Plano, Texas. She plays for Plano Senior High School and was named to the 2014 All-District 6-6A First Team. During her senior season, Duncan helped her team to a regional quarterfinal appearance. She has recorded 374 kills, 98 blocks and 372 digs in 121 sets played this season.
"Megan is a great six rotation player who has a heavy arm, athleticism, and great ball control," Platt said. "She will be an immediate impact player adding ball control and a powerful attack. Megan is another one of our signees that has high level of experience and has unlimited potential."
Faith Squier
6-1 | OH/RS | San Antonio, Texas | Reagan HS / Alamo VBC
Faith Squier is a 6-1 hitter from San Antonio, Texas. She played for Reagan High School and was a member of the Alamo Volleyball Club. Squier helped the Lady Rattlers to the 26-6A District Championship this season and back-to-back playoff appearances including 2014 area finalists and 2015 regional quarterfinals appearance.
"Faith is a great addition to our program. She has a high contact point attacking and can play both right and left pins," Platt said. "Faith is determined and has an incredible work ethic. We look for Faith to contribute right away on a pin."
Kayla Weixelman
6-1 | MB/RS | Vanderbilt, Texas | Industrial HS / TEXSTAR VBC
Kayla Weixelman is a 6-1 middle blocker and right side from Vanderbilt, Texas. She comes to Houston after playing for Industrial High School and TEXSTAR Volleyball Club. During her freshman season, Weixelman was named the 2013 District 30-2A Co-Newcomer of the Year. The following season she was named the 2014 District 28-3A Co-offensive MVP.
"I am excited about Kayla's athleticism and potential. Kayla has quickness and a great jump," Platt said. "She really understands blocking and has a natural talent for it. We can't wait to get her in the gym. Kayla will adjust quick to the fast tempo of being a middle in college."
Abby Giles
5-5 | L/DS | Magnolia, Texas | Magnolia West HS / TAV Houston
Abby Giles is a 5-5 libero/defensive specialist from Magnolia, Texas. She played for Magnolia West High School and TAV Houston volleyball club. She was named the 2014 District 19-5A Defensive Player of the Year, 2014 Montgomery County Co-Defensive Player of the year and second team All State.
"Abby has a great platform, great range, and speed," Platt said. "Abby came to camp last summer and we loved working with her. She is coachable and determined with a great work ethic. We are looking forward to her contributions to the program."
Kylie Napoleon
5-5 | DS/L | Pearland, Texas | Pearland HS / Houston Stellar
Kylie Napoleon is a 5-5 defensive specialist/libero from Pearland, Texas. She played for Pearland High School and for Houston Stellar volleyball club. She helped Pearland HS to a district 22-6A Championship and a regional quarterfinals. Napoleon was named second team all-district and earned a spot on the 2015 UIL 6A Academic All-State Team.
"Kylie Napoleon has high energy, reads hitters well and is a great communicator," Platt said. "Kylie has some great leadership qualities that I am excited to see her develop in the program."
Megan Sullivan
5-6 | DS/L | Houston, Texas | Cy-Fair HS / Houston Juniors
Megan Sullivan is a 5-6 defensive specialist/libero from Houston. She played for Cy-Fair High School and was a member of the Houston Juniors volleyball club. She was the Cy-Fair team captain her senior year and was named the Spring Branch Tournament MVP. Sullivan was the 2015 recipient of the Cy-Fair High School BFND Award.
"Megan Sullivan has great volleyball IQ, great energy, and has an outstanding work ethic," Platt said. "Megan can't get enough volleyball. She studies it and takes every opportunity she can to improve her skills."
