EUGENE, Ore -- University of Houston freshman Leonie Harm stood in a tie for 69th place following the First Round at the NCAA Championships on Friday afternoon at Eugene Country Club.
Harm, who is competing as the Cougars' first representative at the NCAA Championships, battled through a challenging front nine on the 6,369-yard, par-72 layout.
Starting her day with consecutive pars, the Gerlingen, Germany, native endured three straight bogeys with another coming on the par-4 seventh hole. However, Harm rallied to make nine consecutive pars and drained her first birdie of the tournament on the 471-yard, par-5 17th hole.
Harm was joined in a group with 15 players at 75. Arizona's Haley Moore and Purdue's August Kim held the First-Round lead with 71s.
On the team leaderboard, No. 8 Oklahoma State posted a score of 284 to hold the First-Round lead. No. 13 Washington and No. 2 USC were tied for third at 289 with No. 10 Arizona in fifth at 291.
All teams and individuals will compete in 54 holes of stroke play beginning Friday through Sunday. Following Sunday's Third Round, the field will be reduced to the top-15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team for one additional round.
For ticket information, fans may visit NCAA.com/tickets or GoDucks.com/ncaa.golf or call the Oregon Ticket Office at 1-800-932-3668.
Competing in only its second season of team competition, Houston missed qualifying as a team by only two strokes at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. Under Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell's leadership, the program was added to the Houston Department of Athletics for the 2013-14 season and only began competing for team championships in 2014-15 per NCAA rules.
Despite the program's brief history, the Cougars have established themselves as one of the nation's best. Houston has qualified to compete at an NCAA Regional in every season in which it was eligible and ranks at No. 28 nationally in the latest Golfstat poll.
PAIRINGS
For Saturday's Second Round, Harm will compete in a group with Elise Bradley and Louisville's Olivia Cason, beginning at 2:55 p.m. (CDT) off No. 10.

Tee times for Sunday's Third Round will be determined by the standings after Second Round.
ABOUT HARM
Harm, who only joined the Cougars at the start of the spring semester, became a fixture in the Cougars' starting lineup in the second half of the season. She earned her place in the nation's premier collegiate event after tying for seventh with a score of 1-under-par 215 at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on May 5-7.
Harm moved into the team's starting lineup at the UNF Collegiate on March 7 and helped lead the Cougars to their second team tournament championship of the season.
She posted a score of 225, including a Second-Round 69, to help lead Houston to the American Athletic Conference team championship on April 17-19 at Hammock Beach Resort & Golf Club in Palm Coast Fla.
She carried that momentum into the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. After opening with a Regional school-record 69, she overcame an 82 in the Second Round and posted another 69 in the Final Round to tie as the third individual qualifier for the NCAA Championships
