HOUSTON â€" Houston Baseball will begin a five-game week with two scheduled midweek contests, beginning with a trip to Sam Houston State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and a home game at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park vs. Prairie View A&M at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Cougars return to action with a 24-17 overall record and are coming off a series split at No. 20 Tulane in American Athletic Conference action.
Wednesday's home game vs. Prairie View A&M will begin a four-game home stand for the Cougars as they are set to welcome American Athletic Conference foe Memphis to Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park this weekend for a three-game series, set to begin Friday at 6:30 p.m. For tickets, call 713-GO-COOGS or visit UHCougars.com/tickets .

HITS ON HOUSTON
Houston returns to action with a team batting average of .267 and a slugging percentage of .374 with 53 doubles, 10 triples and 24 home runs.
On the base paths, the Cougars are 46-of-54, led by sophomore Zac Taylor's 17-of-19 effort.
Leading the charge offensively and ranking among the league's Top 5 in several categories is freshman Joe Davis, who paces Houston with a .329 average, 54 hits, 12 doubles, eight home runs and 36 RBI. Davis belted his team-high eighth long ball of the year at No. 20 Tulane in Friday's win â€" which moved him just one home run shy of the Houston freshman all-time record of nine, which was set back in 1986.
Following Davis offensively are sophomores Corey Julks and Connor Wong with a .326 and .314 average, respectively. Wong leads the team with 35 runs scored from the lead off position and is riding a 10-game on base streak into this week.
Senior Michael Pyeatt, who has consistently hit over the .300 mark, sits at .313.
Houston's pitching staff owns a 2.59 ERA and has five shutouts and four complete games this season. The Cougars have struck out 347 hitters and walked just 76 in 355.0 innings, while holding opponents to a .222 average.
The staff currently ranks first in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a 4.57 mark and first in walks allowed per nine innings at 1.93.
Leading the way is junior Andrew Lantrip with a 5-5 record and a 2.37 ERA in 11 starts. He has fanned 75 and walked just five in 79.2 innings to rank second in the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio (15.00).
Freshman Mitch Ullom was due to start against Tulane on Sunday, but the game was canceled due to rain. He is 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA in nine appearances and eight starts this season.
Sophomore Seth Romero follows with a 4-4 record and a 2.61 ERA in 10 appearances and nine starts. He leads the club with 78 strikeouts in 62.0 innings, while holding opponents to a .188 clip.
Freshman Trey Cumbie made his first career start last outing vs. Sam Houston State and picked up his second win of the year. He is now 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA in 10 apperances and one start.
Out of the bullpen, Houston relies on closer Nick Hernandez, who owns a 1.60 ERA and a 1-0 record with a team-high seven saves in 20 appearances.
HITS ON SAM HOUSTON STATE
Sam Houston State will meet Houston for the second Tuesday game in as many weeks. The Bearkats are 27-17 on the year and 17-6 at home.
The team has won nine of its last 10 with the only loss coming last Tuesday in a 4-3 fall at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park vs. the Cougars.
As a team, SHSU is hitting .292 on the year and slugging .411 with 83 doubles, 17 triples and 21 home runs.
Leading the way is Bryce Johnson with a .373 average, 66 hits and 39 runs scored. He is followed by Matt Broadbent's .311 average and Zach Smith's 309 clip and 27 RBI.
The pitching staff owns a 4.43 ERA and has four complete games and two shutouts on the year. The staff has fanned 312 and walked 164 in 394.0 innings.
Sam Odom is 6-0 with a 2.49 ERA in 11 starts. Spence Rahm made the start last week at Houston. He is 0-4 on the year with an 8.57 ERA.
SERIES HISTORY
Houston and Sam Houston State will meet for the second time in as many weeks and for the 160th time in program history on Tuesday. The series dates back to 1947 and the Cougars own the slight edge over the Bearkats, 81-78, during that span.
Houston won the first meeting of the year in a 4-3 victory on April 26 at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park as freshman Trey Cumbie earned a win in his first collegiate start. Connor Wong drove in a pair of RBI and Corey Julks had three hits.
The Cougars are 28-31 all-time on the road in Huntsville, Texas, but have won three of the last four meetings away from Houston.
ABOUT PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
Prairie View A&M is 10-28 overall and has lost eight of its last nine games, including its last two vs. Grambling State this past weekend in SWAC play.
The Panthers will meet University of Texas on Tuesday before traveling the Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park on Wednesday to face the Cougars.
PVAMU is hitting .263 with a .395 slugging percentage, which includes 56 doubles, 10 triples and 28 home runs.
Leading the way offensively is Darrien Williams with a .351 average, while Shannon Washington is hitting .337 with 30 RBI.
The pitching staff owns an 8.96 ERA with four complete games. The Panthers have fanned 217, but have issued 237 walks in 309.1 innings.
Edgar Sanchez paces the staff with a 5.67 ERA and a 2-4 record in nine starts. Edward Robledo is PVAMU's go-to out of the bullpen as he paces the team with 19 appearances and three saves.
SERIES HISTORY vs. PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
Houston and Prairie View A&M will meet for the 11th time in program history on Wednesday. The Cougars are 10-0 all-time against the Panthers.
The series dates back to 1987. The Cougars and Panthers last met in 2014 where Houston won 6-0 at Cougar Field.

To purchase tickets in person, fans can visit the Athletics Ticket Stadium Office located on the northeast corner of TDECU Stadium, just outside of Gate 1 off Cullen Boulevard. Parking is available in the TDECU Stadium parking garage with the first 30 minutes free of charge. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m., to 5:30 p.m.
Houston Baseball will offer variable pricing on its single-game tickets and group rates.

As noted in the table above, variable pricing occurs. For weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday) games, prices range from $5-$7 depending on the choice of seating.
Weekend ((Thursday) Friday-Sunday) online pricing will range from $6-$8 per game.
GROUP RATES
Group rates are also available (as noted in the table). Weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday) and Weekend ((Thursday) Friday-Sunday) pricing occurs. Groups of 10-24 are set at $4-$5 per person, while groups of 25+ are $3-$4 per person.
All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season baseball home games with a valid student ID.
