Houston Softball Falls to USF, 4-1

TULSA, Okla. â€" Houston Softball dropped a heartbreaker to No. 24 USF Friday afternoon in the American Athletic Conference Championship semifinals.
The Cougars end the season with a 27-29 record while the Bull advance to the championship game tomorrow with a record of 44-13.
USF jumped out to a 2-0 lead off a hit and two Cougar errors in the bottom of the second.
Houston held the Bulls scoreless for two more innings until USF roped in two solo home runs to extend their lead to 4-0.
The Cougars responded in the top of the sixth with two hits and scored on a muffed throw by the Bulls catcher. But USF shut down the Cougars momentum and ended the game, 4-1.
The Houston infield turned its 19th double play of the season.
Senior LHP Julana Shrum (8-10) pitched her ninth complete game of the season. In 6.0 innings, she allowed only two earned runs, seven hits and two strikeouts.
