Four Cougars Named All-Conference

HOUSTON -- Four student-athletes have been selected to the All-American Athletic Conference Softball teams for their performances during the 2016 season.
Senior Katie St. Pierre and Freshman Savannah Heebner were named to the first team while freshmen Maya Thomas and Elise LeBeouf earned second team selections.
Heebner, Thomas and LeBeouf also earned a spot on the conference's All-Rookie Team.
St. Pierre hit .369 against the league opposition. She tallied 24 hits, 11 runs and four RBIs. She was 6-for-6 in stolen bases and broke the school record for most career stolen bases. St. Pierre was named to the conference weekly honor roll three times this season.
Heebner appeared in 13 conference games and had nine starts in the circle or as the designated player. She posted a 5-0 record and a 2.15 ERA against league members. In the three complete games pitched, Heebner threw two shutouts in 42.1 innings and struck out 19.
Thomas led the team with a .393 batting average in league play. She recorded 22 hits including 13 bunt singles and scored five runs. She also stole two bases and recorded a perfect fielding percentage against conference opponents.
LeBeouf started all 18 conference games in right field. She hit .317 with 19 hits, two home runs and nine RBIs. LeBeouf had several big defensive assists, throwing runners out at the plate to save two runs from scoring.
