TDECU Stadium was the site of the second #HTownTakeover scrimmage this spring, and the site of the second annual Student Appreciation Practice as hundreds of students filled in the stadium with a live DJ on hand
The afternoon started off with the ever-popular Circle Drill with the defense again claiming superiority despite the offense jumping out to a 2-0 lead behind wins from Terry Mark and Kaliq Kokuma. Zorrell Ezell, D'Juan Hines and Nick Thurman all captured wins for the defense, completing a 3-2 comeback victory.
The Student Appreciation Practice also featured the finals of the Fastest Student competition. Friday's competition featured four heats with two competitors each with the winner of each earning the right to race against Houston players at next Saturday's Red & White Game presented by Energy Ogre. James Lang, Sipo Afalani, Kashir Shirin and Etini Uddbong will race Houston players for the chance to join the Houston team on a road trip this fall.

The scrimmage started off with a bang as cornerback Howard Wilson, who has four career interceptions, jumped a Greg Ward Jr. pass for a pick-six. Despite a short rushing touchdown from Duke Catalon and 19-yard screen pass from Ward to Linell Bonner, the defense would claim Friday's scrimmage with Caemen Mayfield adding an interception and Tyus Bowser (2), Nick Thurman (1) and B.J. Singleton (1) picking up sacks.
Houston's kickers were perfect on the day as Ty Cummings connected on field goals of 35 and 44 yards while Joel Scarbrough hit a 31-yard kick.

Running back Duke Catalon and linebacker Tyus Bowser received Coach Tom Herman's Dudes of the Day award for Thursday's practice ... the honor marked Catalon's third Dude of the Day this spring ... defensive back Khalil Williams and linebacker Tyus Bowser are the only other players to earn mulitple Dude of the Day honors this spring ... Houston returns to practice Tuesday afternoon, the first of four workouts scheduled for the fifth and final week of spring football.
