HOUSTON â€" Houston Baseball will continue its home stand this week with one midweek matchup vs. Sam Houston State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park as Wednesday's game vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has been canceled due to impending weather and travel.
NOTE: The Cougars rescheduled game vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday will not be made up. If you purchased a single-game ticket to Wednesday's game, please call the Houston Athletics Ticket Office at 713-GO-COOGS to exchange for a future midweek home game.
Houston will play just one midweek game this week before making its way to New Orleans to take on Tulane this weekend.
Houston will enter the week with a record of 22-16 overall and 5-7 in league action after earning a series win over USF this past weekend at home.

Following Houston's midweek matchup on Tuesday, the Cougars will hit the road for a three-game weekend series in New Orleans, La. â€" taking on Tulane in American Athletic Conference play. The series is set to begin Friday at 6:30 p.m., continue Saturday at 4 p.m. and wrap at 1 p.m. Sunday.
HITS ON HOUSTON
Houston will return to play after earning a series win over USF in American Athletic Conference play this past weekend at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park. The Cougars are 22-16 overall and 17-6 at home this season.
The pitching has been the key for Houston this season as the Cougars continue to rank among the nation's Top 10 in several categories. Houston will enter Week 10 of the season, owning a league-best 2.38 ERA with four complete games and five shutouts to accompany nine saves.
The Cougars have fanned 370 and walked just 70 hitters thus far through 329.0 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting just .216 against the staff.
2015 All-American Andrew Lantrip paces the weekend rotation with a 1.82 ERA and a 5-5 record in 10 starts. He has struck out 68 in 74.0 innings, while walking just four to rank first in the nation.
Sophomore Seth Romero is 4-3 with a 2.18 ERA in nine appearances and eight starts. He has struck out 70 in 57.2 innings, while opponents are hitting .173 against the southpaw.
Freshman Mitch Ullom is 5-2 in his first collegiate season, owning a 2.59 ERA in nine appearances and eight starts. He has fanned 25 in 48.2 innings, while walking just seven.
Out of the bullpen, Houston has relied heavily on the arm of junior Nick Hernandez, who owns a team-high six saves and is 1-0 with a 1.72 ERA in 18 appearances. He has struck out 41 in 31.1 innings.
Offensively, Houston sits in the middle of the American with a .263 average and a .370 slugging percentage with 48 doubles, 10 triples and 22 home runs. The club is 46-of-54 on the base paths, led by sophomore Zac Taylor's 17-for-19 effort.
Leading the charge offensively for the Cougars is freshman Joe Davis with a .345 average, a team-high 51 hits, 11 doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI.
Senior Michael Pyeatt follows with a solid .325 average, while sophomore Connor Wong is hitting .313 with 32 runs scored from the leadoff position.
HITS ON SAM HOUSTON STATE
Sam Houston State will enter the midweek matchup on Tuesday vs. the Cougars with a 25-16 overall record and a 10-10 mark on the road.
The Bearkats, a member of the Southland Conference, are winners of their last seven games, including a midweek win over Baylor last week.
Sam Houston State is hitting .288 as a team and slugging .396 with 76 doubles, 15 triples and 15 home runs. The team is 52-of-77 on the base paths and is fielding .966 with 55 errors.
Leading the way offensively is Bryce Johnson with a .373 average, 62 hits, 23 RBI and a .470 slugging percentage. Behind him is Matt Broadbent with a .316 average.
The pitching staff owns a 4.60 ERA with four complete games and one shutout, accompanying 10 saves. In 368.0 innings, the staff has fanned 298 hitters and walked 157, while opponents are hitting .256 against the squad.
Sam Odom leads the way for the starters with a 5-0 record and a 2.69 ERA in 10 starts. He has struck out 54 in 73.2 innings. Riley Gossett is 4-0 with a 3.19 ERA in 12 appearances and nine starts, while Heath Donica is 7-2 with a 3.57 ERA in 11 appearances and nine starts for the Bearkats.
Out of the pen, Sam Houston State will look to Greg Belton, who has a team-high 18 appearances and has made three starts for a 3.86 ERA and a 3-1 record and a team-high eight saves.
SERIES HISTORY
Houston and Sam Houston State will meet for the first of two meetings in the next two weeks and for the 159th time in program history on Tuesday. The series dates back to 1947 and the Cougars own the slight edge over the Bearkats, 80-78, during that span.
Houston won both meetings in 2015 and have split the previous five seasons with Sam Houston State.
The Cougars are 47-31 all-time at home vs. the Bearkats and won 3-0 on April 28, 2015 at the previous-Cougar Field.

To purchase tickets in person, fans can visit the Athletics Ticket Stadium Office located on the northeast corner of TDECU Stadium, just outside of Gate 1 off Cullen Boulevard. Parking is available in the TDECU Stadium parking garage with the first 30 minutes free of charge. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m., to 5:30 p.m.
Houston Baseball will offer variable pricing on its single-game tickets and group rates.

As noted in the table above, variable pricing occurs. For weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday) games, prices range from $5-$7 depending on the choice of seating.
Weekend ((Thursday) Friday-Sunday) online pricing will range from $6-$8 per game.
GROUP RATES
Group rates are also available (as noted in the table). Weekday (Tuesday/Wednesday) and Weekend ((Thursday) Friday-Sunday) pricing occurs. Groups of 10-24 are set at $4-$5 per person, while groups of 25+ are $3-$4 per person.
All UH main campus students are admitted FREE to regular-season baseball home games with a valid student ID.
