PREVIEW: Softball Travels to East Carolina

HOUSTON â€" Houston Softball returns to action this weekend in American Athletic Conference play when the Cougars travel to Greenville, N.C. for a three game series vs. East Carolina.
The series opens on Friday at 5 p.m. (CT). Game two of the weekend is set for a 1 p.m. pitch on Saturday. The two teams will meet for the series finale on Sunday at 10 a.m.
All games will be streamed on ECUPirates.com.

• Series: Houston leads, 29-15
• Last Meeting: W, 4-3 â€" April 4, 2015 (Cougar Softball Stadium)
• Last Meeting at ECU Softball Stadium: W, 14-3 â€" March 24, 2013
• Houston has won eight of the last 10 meetings against ECU. The Cougars haven't traveled to Greenville, N.C., since the two joined the American Athletic Conference.

• Houston Softball went 2-3 this weekend picking up two wins over ranked opponents. The Cougars jumped to 86 in the RPI rankings.
• During the 10th Annual Striking Out Breast Cancer doubleheader, the Cougars split with No. 19 Baylor. The Bears took game one 4-0 before the Cougars hitting lit up the scoreboard in game two to steal an 8-5 win.
• The win marked the first victory over a No. 19 team since the Cougars defeated No. 19 Texas A&M at Cougar Softball Stadium, 4-3, on April 20, 2011.
• Senior Courtney Klingler belted two home runs including a grand slam in Tuesday's 8-5 win over No. 19 Baylor. She went 3-for-5 and drove in six runs during the doubleheader.
• On Friday, the Cougars handed UCF it's first loss of conference play with a 7-0 victory.
• Freshman Savannah Heebner was named to the American weekly honor roll. She posted a 2-0 record with 15.0 innings pitched. Heebner pitched her second collegiate complete game shutout vs. UCF. At the plate she batted .400 against the two opponents.

• St. Pierre recorded her 16th stolen base of the year. She tied All-American Jessica Valis (2006-09) for the school record career stolen bases (61).
• St. Pierre also ranks in the top five in school history for career walks (103), runs scored (155), hits (233) and hit by pitch (22).
• St. Pierre has focused on her on-base percentage this season. She has reached base in 43 of the 44 games this season and has a .503 OB% that ranks second in conference and 70th in the nation.

• A pitch has hit the Cougars 56 times this season. That is good for the fourth most in school history by a Cougar team, just one shy of tying the 2015 season total (57) for third in school history.
• Sophomore Kaylin Crumpton leads the team with 16 followed by teammate Courtney Klingler who has been pegged 15 times.
• Crumpton leads the league in hit by pitches this season and sits 14th nationally for most HBP per game (0.36). Klingler is second behind Crumpton in the conference with (0.36) and ranks 15th in the nation.
• With 36 career hit by pitches, Crumpton is tied for second in school history and is in the top 15 nationally on the Active Career Leaders list.
