HOUSTON -- Houston Volleyball kicked off the spring season this morning and will take part in three tournaments, including the Rice Spring Tournament on March 25.
The Cougars have begun spring training and will be prepared for the first test of the season against in-state rivals Rice and Texas A&M in the first week of March.
"The team showed great focus in pre-spring training sessions, and we have seen great improvements in strength and conditioning. We are excited about the spring for the competition, training opportunities, and team development," said head coach Kaddie Platt.
Those improvements include the addition of two new players, Brianna Lynch and Brianna Gardner, who bring the roster up to 13.
Platt and her team will start the season with a match against Texas A&M on March 25 at 3 p.m. in Rice's Tudor Fieldhouse. Houston will close out the tournament with a game against the Rice Owls at 5 p.m. Both matches will be best two out of three.
Admission to the Rice spring tournament will be free and open to the public.
The Cougars will then participate in the Texas Tornados College Spring Showcase on April 2 and the F.A.S.T. College Spring Tournament hosted by Houston Juniors Volleyball Club on April 9. Opposing teams will be announced the week of the tournaments.
