SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Making her collegiate debut, University of Houston redshirt freshman Kailey Collier stood in a tie for 12th place after the first two rounds of the HBU Husky Invitational.
Competing on the 6,085-yard, par-72 course at Riverbend Country Club, Collier posted a 78 in Monday's morning round and bettered that total by two strokes in the afternoon session to join three other golfers in a tie for 12th at 154.
The Broken Arrow, Okla., native sat out the 20145-15 season with the Cougars as a redshirt.
Collier was one of three Cougars competing as individuals at the HBU Husky Invitational. Sophomore Kelli Rollo stood in a tie for 24th at 159, while sophomore Maddy Rayner was tied for 28th at 161.
With only three Cougars competing, Houston was ineligible to compete for the team championship. Host Houston Baptist held the first-day lead at 603 to stand 11 strokes in front of Lamar. Sam Houston State (622), UT Rio Grande Valley (623), Stephen F. Austin (626), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (626) and McLennan Community College (626) rounded out the top-7 leaders.
