PREVIEW: Softball Travels to Arizona State Tourney

HOUSTON -- Houston Softball closes out road tournament play with the Diamond Devil Invitational this weekend in Tempe, Ariz., hosted by Arizona State.
The Cougars open the three-day tournament on Friday at noon when they face Mount St. Mary's. Later that evening, Houston is set to take on host Arizona State at 8:30 p.m. (CT). The game will be aired on the PAC-12 Digital Network that is available through TheSunDevils.com.
On Saturday, UH is slated to play a doubleheader starting with Minnesota at 1:30 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's at 4 p.m. The Cougars wrap the tournament with a 10 a.m. first pitch on Sunday against Minnesota.
HITS ON HOUSTON |
• Houston finished 3-2 during the home opening weekend Hilton Houston Plaza Invitational.
• The Cougars picked up two more run-rule victories and a walk-off win in eight innings during the five-game tournament at Cougar Softball Stadium.
• A crowd of 1,674 attended the Houston-Texas game on Sunday, the third highest attendance in school history.
• Houston fell 12-0 to No. 14 Texas A&M during the midweek matchup on Wednesday. Total attendance for the game was 1,152, 11th best in school history.
• Freshman RHP Presley Bell (2-1) pitched her second complete game shutout of her career in the 8-0 win over Toledo Saturday night. Bell was named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll for her outstanding performance against Toledo. She allowed only three hits and struck out a career best five batters.
• Freshman OF Elise LeBeouf was one of the Cougars top hitters as she blasted three home runs, two in the 4-3 comeback win over Iowa State. LeBeouf was also named to the American Athletic Conference weekly honor roll for her outstanding performance last weekend.
• Senior centerfielder Katie St. Pierre has reached base in all 11 games this season, and 12 straight games dating back to last season.
