Ayers, Jackson Invited to NFL Combine

HOUSTON - Houston's Demarcus Ayers and William Jackson III have been invited to the 2016 NFL Combine the NFL announced Thursday. The six-day event kicks off on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Thursday's announcement gives Houston at least one representative in the event for the third consecutive year after former defensive tackle and current Atlanta Falcon Joey Mbu was invited in 2015 and former punter Richie Leone was invited in 2014.
Ayers schedule at the event consists of media interviews on Thursday, Feb. 25, before working out on Saturday, Feb. 27. Jackson will take part in media interviews on Saturday, Feb. 27, before working out on Monday, Feb. 29.
Jackson started 28 games in his three seasons with the Houston program, highlighted by the 2015 season when he set the Houston single-season record and led the nation with 23 pass breakups. Jackson also led the nation in passes defended with 28, finishing 20th nationally with five interceptions.
He finished his career third on the UH career pass breakups chart with 40 despite only playing three seasons and was named the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Defensive MVP after recording a career-high 10 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups in Houston's win over Florida State. Jackson also set the Houston single game record with seven pass breakups in the American Athletic Conference Championship game.
A three-year member of the Houston program, Ayers started 25 games for the Cougars including the final 22 games of his career. Named to The American's first team in 2015 as both a receiver and return specialist, Ayers led The American and ranked sixth nationally with 98 receptions while ranking 18th nationally with 1,222 yards. He also added 28 punt returns for 290 yards (10.4 average) and a touchdown.
Ayers closed out his Houston career third on the UH chart for career kickoff return yards with 1,613 while his 98 receptions in 2015 ranked eighth on the UH single-season charts while his 1,222 yards ranked ninth. He was named The American's Special Teams Player of the Year in 2013.

Season ticket members may renew in full or through an interest free payment plan with the final renewal deadline set for April 29. The renewal deadline to take advantage of a three-month payment plan is Feb. 29 and a two-month payment plan on March 29.
