Jasmyne Harris Named American FOW

PROVIDENCE â€" Freshman shooting guard Jasmyne Harris has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week for her outstanding play against UTRGV and College of Charleston, the league office announced Monday.
"Jasmyne has shown flashes of her abilities in practice, and we have been waiting for it to come together on the court," Head Coach Ronald Hughey said. "She has come a long way in a short period of time and this award shows how high her ceiling can be."
Harris averaged 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds over two games, while also picking up four steals and five assists in 42 combined minutes of action. The award for the Cougars is the second this season and comes after Angela Harris claimed the honor last week.
Jasmyne Harris played a key role in each of the team's wins last week. On the road against UTRGV, Harris scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting, while pulling down three rebounds and assisting on three baskets. However, it was against Charleston where she had a breakout game, scoring a career-best 17 points in the 79-63 win over CofC.
This season, Harris has appeared in all seven games and is averaging 20.3 minutes per contest. She has scored 6.6 points per game, while collecting 6.1 boards per contest.
