PEARLAND, Texas â€" Local fans can catch the University of Houston Men's Golf program in action beginning Monday when the Cougars tee off at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Golfcrest Country Club.
The tournament begins Monday morning with 36 holes and wraps up with the final 18 holes Tuesday. The Cougars join with Rice and Sam Houston State as co-hosts of this tournament.

The Cougars will compete against Abilene Christian, Charleston Southern, Houston Baptist, Kansas, Lamar, Little Rock, McNeese State, Nebraska, Texas State, UT Arlington and UTSA.

Papito Gonzalez â€" Leads Cougars with 69.33 average and three rounds of par or better in 2016-17… Opened Maui Jim Intercollegiate with career-low 67 and followed with 70… Led Cougars and tied for 13th at 5-under 208 on Sept. 23-25… Native of McAllen, Texas, and product of Memorial High School.
Michael Perras â€" Tied for second on team with 71.67 average… Tied for 36th at 215 at season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Sept. 23-25… Was the 2016 NCAA Franklin Regional individual champion at 16-under 200… Native of Deer Park, Texas, and product of Deer Park High School.
Logan Davis â€" Making his season debut… Competed in 10 tournaments in 2015-16, finishing with a 73.00 average and 10 rounds of par or better… Tied for second at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational with a score of 5-under 211… Native of Humble, Texas, and product of Atascocita High School.
Matt Dunn â€" Looking to defend his individual championship at Bayou City Collegiate Classic… Tied with McNeese State's Robert MacIntyre at 5-under 211 at the 2015 event and earned medalist honors on the second playoff hole… Was the first individual title of his collegiate career… Making his season debut… Finished with a 73.88 average and six rounds of par or better in 2015-16… One of three seniors on the 2016-17 team… Native of Houston and product of Cypress Creek High School… Joined the Cougars after competing for his first two seasons at Air Force.
Alan De Bondt â€" Making his season debut… Finished with 74.86 average and five rounds of par or better… Tied for second at the President's Day Challenge on Feb. 15, 2016, and enjoyed a career-low tournament score of 214 at the Cougars' own All-American Intercollegiate on Feb. 19-21, 2016… Native of Antwerp, Belgium, and product of Topsportschool.
George Gardner â€" Competing as an individual… Making his collegiate debut… Sat out as a redshirt with the Cougars in 2015-16… Native of Southlake, Texas, and product of Carroll High School.
Jacob Veerman â€" Competed as an individual… Played as an individual at season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Set. 23-25… Tied for 85th with score of 229 at that event… Native of Sugar Land, Texas, and product of Clements High School… Joined the Cougars in 2015-16 after sitting out as a redshirt at Texas A&M in 2014-15.
Emmett Oh â€" Three-year letterman and one of three seniors… Competing as an individual… Opened season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate with 68 on Sept. 23 and tied for 36th at 215 at that tournament.
Zach Tracy â€" Making his collegiate debut… Sat out as a redshirt with the Cougars in 2015-16… Native of Houston and product of Seven Lakes High School.
Pryce Beshoory â€" Making his collegiate debut… Native of Pearland, Texas, and product of Lutheran South Academy… Member of Pearland Little League team, which finished fourth at 2010 Little League World Series.
Matt Scobie â€" Three-year letterman and one of three seniors… Tied for 61st at the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate with a score of 222 on Sept. 23-25.
Tony Gil â€" Making his collegiate debut… Native of Vaughan, Ontario, Canada and product of Northview Heights Secondary School.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars finished seventh at the season-opening Maui Jim Intercollegiate with a score of 853 at Mirabel Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Sept. 23-25.
Junior Papito Gonzalez posted three straight rounds of par or better to lead the Cougars and tie for 13th at 5-under 208.
A YEAR AGO
The Cougars swept the team and individual titles at this tournament a year ago. Seven Cougars posted sub-par scores in the final round as Houston fired a team total of 11-under 277 to win their third team event of the fall season.
Dunn defeated McNeese State's Robert MacIntyre on the second playoff hole to capture the first individual title of his collegiate career. Both players tied at 5-under-par through 54 holes to force the playoff.
Blair Hamilton and Matt Williams each tied for fourth at 2-under 214 to put three Cougars among the top-seven leaders.
UP NEXT
Following the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, the Cougars continue their fall season when they compete at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Oct. 24-25 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
