HOUSTON - Houston head coach Tom Herman announced Tuesday the addition of two early enrollees to the program in quarterback Bowman Sells and wide receiver Terry Mark. The two members of the 2016 signing class join the program on the first day of spring semester classes for the University of Houston.
The two join previously announced four-year transfers quarterback Kyle Allen (Texas A&M) and tight end Alex Leslie (Iowa State) and junior college transfers offensive tackle Na'Ty Rodgers (Iowa Western CC), cornerback J.J. Dallas (Blinn CC) and defensive back Terrell Williams (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M).
An Honorable Mention AP All-State honoree as a senior, Sells comes to Houston from Lovejoy High School where he threw for 3,140 yards and 35 touchdowns as a senior while leading Lovejoy in rushing with 829 yards on the ground and 12 touchdowns en route to being named District 10-5A Offensive MVP in 2015.
Ranked the No. 16 quarterback nationally and the No. 64 player in the state of Texas by Rivals, Sells threw for 3,008 yards and 35 touchdowns as a junior while adding 392 yards and five touchdowns on the ground to earn All-District 10-5A honors. He threw for 2,632 yards and 25 touchdowns in varsity action as a freshman, earning District 13-4A Newcomer of the Year honors, before his sophomore season was cut short due to injury. Sells chose Houston over Clemson, Iowa, Ohio State and Texas.
Mark - the younger brother of Tomme Mark, who just completed his playing career at Houston - comes to UH from Lufkin High School where he had 45 receptions for 798 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior in 2014 to earn First-Team All-District honors. A three-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals, Scout and 247Sports, Mark also excelled on the soccer field as well, serving as the Panthers' starting goalkeeper on their 2015 state championship squad.
