Olivia O'Dell Named Defensive Player of the Week

HOUSTON -- Senior libero Olivia O'Dell was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week in the Cougars second week of action.
Houston has now won an offensive and defensive player of the week award from the conference.
O'Dell helped the Cougars to the second Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic Championship in three years with her outstanding performance in the back row. She was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Rowlett, Texas, native posted a career high of 29 digs in the five-set win over Nicholls State. She then tied the career high in the four-set win over Louisiana-Lafayette, tying for the eighth best in school history for digs in a four-set match.
O'Dell has already racked up 141 digs, averaging 6.13 digs per set.
Freshman Brookah Palmer was named to the weekly Honor Roll for her second conference award as a Cougar.
Palmer was named the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic MVP for her outstanding weekend in Lafayette. She recorded her third double-double of the season against Nicholls State. She has tallied 10+ kills in five of the six matches this season and has recorded 20+ kills in three matches.
NEXT SERVE
The Cougars travel to Denton, Texas, this weekend for the North Texas Invitational. Houston is set to face Abilene Christian on Friday at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Cougars open play with Boise State at 1 p.m. and round out the tournament with host North Texas at 7 p.m.
