Ward Named Manning Award Star of the Week

HOUSTON - Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr. has been named a Star of the Week by The Manning Award for his performance in Houston's 34-31 win at Louisville.
Houston fans can vote for Ward as the best performance from this past weekend on the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page. When voting closes on Friday at 11 a.m. (Central) for the field of eight, the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

Ward earned the honor after accumulating 334 yards of total offense and three touchdown passes against the Cardinals. Ward finished the day with 236 yards through the air on 23-of-33 passing, while adding 98 yards on the ground. All three of Ward's touchdowns resulted in Houston taking the lead with the final score, a 15-yard strike to Demarcus Ayers with 3:09 left in the game, giving Houston the lead for good.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
