Brookah Palmer Named American Offensive POW

HOUSTON â€" Freshman outside hitter Brookah Palmer was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performance at the Texas Tech Fall Invitational.
The Carrollton, Texas, native was selected to the all-tournament team after helping the Cougars to a 2-1 start in the opening weekend.
She tallied 63 kills (5.73 kills per set) and hitting .271, four service aces and 31 digs in the three matches. Palmer picked up her first two double-doubles in her collegiate career and recorded back-to-back 20+ kill matches over the weekend.
In the three-set win over Louisiana-Lafayette, Palmer led the Cougars with 17 kills, hitting .353. She also scored 68.5 points for the Cougars during the three matches. With her 26-kill match vs. Texas Tech, Palmer has already jumped into the history books as 10th all-time for kills in a four-set match.
Senior libero Olivia O'Dell was named to the conference honor roll for her outstanding performance in the back row. She tallied career high digs in all three games including a 28-dig performance against Texas Tech. She is now tied 10th all time for most digs in a four-set match.
NEXT SERVE
Houston travels to Lafayette, La., for the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic this weekend. The Cougars are set to face Nicholls State on Friday at 5 p.m. On Saturday, Houston will play Jackson State at 10 a.m. and Louisiana-Lafayette at 4 p.m.
