NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Houston Football running back Kenneth Farrow was selected among the nation's top players, being named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List, announced by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Friday.
Just yesterday, Farrow was named to the Doak Walter Award Watch List, honoring the nation's top running back, while also being named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, honoring the nation's top offensive player a week ago.
2015 marks the first year since 2012 that a Houston Football player was named to this prestigious preseason list. Farrow joins three others from the American Athletic Conference named to the list.
Farrow led the American in 2014 with seven 100-yard rushing games and was second in the league with 1,037 yards on the ground, just four yards away from the league lead. Farrow led the conference in scoring with 15 total touchdowns -- a league-best 14 rushing TDs and one receiving TD. The two-time captain also added 18 receptions for 107 yards and a TD and was named to the 2014 American Athletic Conference Second Team, while also being named the Armed Forces Bowl MVP in Houston's historic come-from-behind victory over Pitt to end the 2014 season.
The Hurst, Texas, native enters 2015 riding a streak of four consecutive games with 100 yards of rushing. Farrow had previously been named to The American Athletic Conference Preseason First Team by Phil Steele and Athlon.
Farrow is the third different Cougar this season to be named to three different award watch lists, joining teammates William Jackson III (Bednarik, Thorpe, Nagurski) and Adrian McDonald (Wuerffel, Nagurski, Thorpe), while kicker Kyle Bullard (Groza) was named to one this preseason.

ABOUT THE AWARD
The watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in mid-November. The 2015 Walter Camp Player of the Year recipient, which is voted on by the 128 NCAA Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors, will be announced live on ESPN SportsCenter on Thursday, December 10. The winner will then receive his trophy at the Foundation's annual national awards banquet on January 16, 2016 at the Yale University Commons in New Haven.
Walter Camp, "The Father of American football," first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp -- a former Yale University athlete and football coach -- is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side. The Walter Camp Football Foundation (www.waltercamp.org; @WalterCampFF) -- a New Haven-based all-volunteer group -- was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team.
The Walter Camp Foundation is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football. The 22 awards boast over 700 years of tradition-selection excellence. Visit www.NCFAA.org to learn more about our story.
The members of the NCFAA unveiled their preseason watch lists over a 12-day period this month. Sixteen of the association's 22 awards selected a preseason watch list and the NCFAA has spearheaded a coordinated effort to promote each award's preseason candidates.
