Houston Football Partners with Feed the Children

HOUSTON - Student-athletes from the Houston Football program spent the middle of their day Tuesday at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center in Houston's eastside, partnering with Feed the Children, an organization that exists to end childhood hunger.
The student-athletes joined forces with Houston-based Target Hunger and Concord Hotels to package, distribute and load food, bottled water and hygiene products. Working with Feed the Children, volunteers prepared and delivered more than 100,000 meals to 1,200 families in need in a single day.
"It felt good to give back to our community. It may have been a little hot, but you definitely feel better helping others out," said senior safety Adrian McDonald. "Being able to help out the less fortunate, loading their cars up with much-needed food, it's a good feeling to give back. Coming to school here isn't just about football; you have to give back to your community too, and our team knows that."
Organized by McDonald and senior running back Kenneth Farrow, two groups of Houston Football student-athletes each spent an hour distributing meals at the event. Members of group one included Farrow, Donald Gage, Ryan Jackson, Zach Johnson, Mac Long, Corey Manges and Javin Webb, while members of group two included Tyus Bowser, Lee Hightower, D'Juan Hines, Melvin Holland, William Jackson, McDonald, Steven Taylor and Brandon Wilson.
Tuesday's event was Houston Football's second in the past few weeks as members of the program assisted those affected by the Houston Memorial Day floods.
