Three Cougars Named Second Team All-Conference

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior shortstop Selena Hernandez and juniors Courtney Klingler and Katie St. Pierre have been named All-American Athletic Conference Second Team for their performances this season during conference play.
Hernandez started in all 53 games at shortstop this season. She is one of the Cougars top hitters as she batted .255 with 13 hits, eight runs scored, a double and two home runs against the league competition. She batted in eight runs and posted a .392 slugging percentage and an on base percentage of .345.
The Austin, Texas, native was the second toughest athlete in the nation to strike out as she had only two Ks in the first 48 games played. Hernandez has made her way into the school record books defensively. She is the current record holder for most assists in a single season (169 - 2014) and stands second for the 2015 season with 158 assists.
Throughout the 2015 season, Hernandez was named The American Player of the Week (April 6) and was selected to the honor roll three times (Feb. 9, Feb. 23, May 4).
In her first season as a Cougar, Klingler earned her first all-conference selection. She is the leading hitter during conference play as she batted .378 in 17 games played with 17 hits, four doubles, one home run and 11 RBIs. She also has the team best slugging percentage (.533) and on base percentage (.440).
Klingler had two very impressive games in league play as she went 3-for-3 in game one vs. East Carolina and went 4-for-4 in game three vs. UConn. She was added to the weekly honor roll in back-to-back weeks (April 20, 27).
St. Pierre nabbed her third all-conference honor in as many seasons. She is one of the leagues best slappers as she hit .213 in 17 games played with 10 hits and two doubles. She has also dawn eight walks as the leadoff batter and is 4-4 in stolen bases.
