HOUSTON - Wide receiver Ra'Shaad Samples, a transfer from Oklahoma State, officially joined the 2015 Houston Football signing class Wednesday. A former Under Armour All-American, Samples will sit out one season under an NCAA mandated transfer policy and have two years of eligibility remaining when he suits up for the Cougars in 2016.
A Dallas native, Samples caught 62 passes for 1,072 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior at Skyline High School after reeling in 65 receptions for 1,369 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior. Coached by his father, Reginald Samples, he recorded 48 career touchdowns.
Ranked a four-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and Scout, Samples was named a two-time first-team all-area selection by the Dallas Morning News and was ranked the No. 19 receiver nationally by ESPN. A second-team AP All-State selection, Samples was ranked the No. 20 overall player in the state of Texas in 2013.
Samples redshirted his first season at Oklahoma State before seeing action in six games in 2014, pulling in three receptions for 11 yards.
