NCAA Houston Baseball Regional at Cougar Field Set

HOUSTON -- After being rewarded for its success and learning it will host an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2000, Houston Baseball welcomes (2) Rice, (3) Louisiana-Lafayette, and (4) Houston Baptist to Cougar Field for the NCAA Houston Baseball Regional, set for this weekend after the Division I NCAA Selection Committee made its final regional pairings, announced on ESPNU Monday.
(2) Rice and (3) Louisiana-Lafayette will take the field on Friday, May 29, beginning at 2:30 pm. CT on ESPN3.com. (1) Houston and (4) Houston Baptist will meet at 7 p.m. CT that evening, also on ESPN3.com.
All other game times will be set and released soon.
NCAA postseason baseball returns to Cougar Field for just the third time in program history and for the first time since 2000 as Houston Baseball was selected by the Division I NCAA Selection Committee as one of 16 regional hosts for the 2015 NCAA Baseball Championship, set for May 29-31 (June 1 -- if necessary).
After recording its second straight 40-win season and notching its first regular-season conference title since 2002, Houston Baseball was rewarded for that success.
TICKET INFORMATION
To ensure a Cougar Field full of Houston fans, NCAA Houston Regional tickets can be purchased by Cougar Pride members, Houston Athletics season ticket members and University of Houston students at this time.

Cougar Pride member and Houston Athletics season ticket members should check their emails for an updated promo code sent Monday afternoon. Fans can enter their promo codes to purchase all-session tickets for the 2015 NCAA Regional in Houston HERE or at UHCougars.com/regional.

UH fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets now as tickets are selling fast. As of Monday at 4:30 p.m., only 200 all-session reserved ticket packages in the 200 level remain. All 100 level all-session ticket packages are sold out.

Houston fans can purchase all-session 200-level bleacher back ticket packages for $80 per package or standing-room only ticket packages on the first and third base berms for $50.

The first 100 University of Houston students to claim tickets to Houston's NCAA Regional opener vs. Houston Baptist will be able to enter the game free of charge thanks to new Houston AD Hunter Yurachek covering the single-game admission. UH students can pick up their complimentary tickets with a valid UH student ID at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office located at Gate 1 of TDECU Stadium from Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. -- 5:30 p.m., and Friday at Cougar Field beginning at 12 p.m. Limit one ticket per valid student ID on a first-come, first-served basis.

UH students can still purchase all-session standing-room only tickets for $30 in advance at the Houston Athletics Ticket Office window located at Gate 1 at TDECU Stadium, Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Friday beginning at 12 p.m. at Cougar Field, if tickets remain.
If all-session tickets do not sell out, single-game tickets will only be available for walk-up sales beginning Friday at 12 p.m. at Cougar Field.
QUICK HITS ON HOUSTON
Along with the 2015 NCAA Regional, which is scheduled to begin on Friday afternoon, Cougar Field also hosted the 2000 Regional after winning the C-USA Regular Season and Tournament titles and went on to host a Super Regional that same year.
Overall, this will mark the Cougars' second straight NCAA Regional appearance and 20th in program history, while only serving as a host three times (2015, 2000, 1999).
The Cougars will enter NCAA postseason play with a record of 42-18 and have won 19 of its last 23 games and holds an RPI of 14 following the American Athletic Conference Championship.
The 42-win season marks the second straight 40-win season under head coach Todd Whitting and is the first back-to-back 40-win seasons since 1999-2000 for the program. The Cougars went 25-6 at home this season, notching the second consecutive 25-season with 25 wins at Cougar Field.
1 - Houston captured its first regular-season conference title since 2002.
2 - Houston has now appeared in the American Championship game in consecutive seasons - winning in 2014 vs. Louisville.
2 - Houston has now notched back-to-back 40-win seasons, the first since 1999 - 2000.
2 - Houston won its second straight Silver Glove Series vs. Rice - first time ever with back-to-back wins.
3 -- Houston will host an NCAA Regional for the third time in program history.
3 - American Athletic Conference is considered the third toughest league in the nation.
5 - Houston tallied five weekend sweeps this season.
6 - Houston won its final six American Athletic Conference regular-season series.
7 -- Houston won all but one home weekend series and that one came in a 2-2 split with Ivy League Champion, Columbia.
16 -- Houston finished conference play with a 16-8 record -- the most conference wins since 18 in 2006.
19 - Houston has now won 19 of its last 23 games played this season.
19 - Houston has made 20 NCAA Regional appearances.
25 -- Houston notched a 25-6 home record -- notching second straight season with 25 home wins.
30 - Houston has been ranked among the nation's Top 30 every week this season.
170 - Head Coach Todd Whitting notched his 170th career win with 17-3 rout of Memphis.
QUICK HITS ON (2) RICE
Rice will enter NCAA play with a record of 35-20 and is coming off a C-USA regular-season Championship. The Cougars and Owls have met three times already this season with Houston winning two of three to notch its second straight Silver Glove Series trophy.
QUICK HITS ON (3) LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE
Louisiana-Lafayette was named the No. 3 seed in the Houston Regional after capturing the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Tournament title this weekend. The Ragin' Cajuns enter play with a 39-21 record. Houston and Louisiana-Lafayette met once this season, with the Cougars falling 6-5 on the road in midweek action (April 7).
QUICK HITS ON (4) HOUSTON BAPTIST
Houston Baptist will make its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance after winning the Southland Conference Tournament title this past weekend. The Huskies are 28-25 entering NCAA play and have met Houston once already this season, earning 2-1 win back on March 3 at Cougar Field.
