Cougars Drop Series Finale to Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. - In the series finale, Houston Softball fell 4-1 to Tulsa Sunday afternoon at Collins Family Softball Complex.
The Cougars dropped to 24-24 on the season, 9-5 in conference play while the Golden Hurrican improved to 30-17, 9-6 on senior day.
Seven different Cougars earned hits, but it wasn't enough as Tulsa capitalized on Houston's mistakes.
Houston jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning when sophomore Shelby Miller and junior Julana Shrum hit back-to-back singles into the outfield. Miller advanced to third on a fielder's choice and scored the Cougars only run of the day on an error by the Tulsa shortstop.
The Golden Hurricane went on to capture the lead two innings later with a leadoff home run by senior Julie Kernen, two errors, two wild pitches and a passed ball.
RHP Shelby Miller (6-8) took the loss for the Cougars. In her seventh complete game of the season, she allowed just two earned runs off five hits, two walks and a strikeout.
UP NEXT
Houston returns to Cougar Softball Stadium for the home finale as they host Lamar for a doubleheader on Wednesday starting at 4 p.m. The Cougars close out the regular season with a three-game road series at Memphis May 2-3.
