Maya Thomas Signs with Houston Softball

HOUSTON - Houston Softball Head Coach Kyla Holas announced the signing of Maya Thomas to a national letter of intent Friday. Thomas becomes the seventh member of the 2015-16 recruiting class for the Cougars.
"We are so excited to add Maya to our 2015-16 class," Holas said. "She is an all-around athlete who will bring some speed to our lineup that will really improve us next year."
Thomas is a 5-8 outfielder that comes to Houston from Stephen F. Austin High School in Sugar Land, Texas. She lettered all four years as she helped the Bulldogs to district championships in 2013 and 2014 and several playoff appearances throughout her high school career. For the last three seasons, Thomas played with fellow signee Brooke Vannoy at Stephen F. Austin.
During her freshman season, Thomas was named Second Team All-District and has been named to the All-District First Team for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
As a senior, Thomas has hit .526 as a slapper and has posted a .580 on base average. She has hit four home runs this season, three of which were in the park due to her speed around the bases. Thomas has stolen 20 bases so far this season as she leads the Bulldogs to its fourth postseason appearance in as many years.
Thomas played club ball for John Glowacz with the Houston Power-18 Gold team.
